What's your favorite sandwich and how do you like it?

I like the Veggie on wheat at Subway:
Provolone cheese, avocado, spinach, extra tomatoes and cucumbers, light mayo (sometimes). Nothing else.

I also like the Flatbread Roasted Chicken Salad at Quizno's:
No cheese, extra tomatoes.

I don't go to Togo's too often. The one in my neighbhood is next to a gym so I can never find parking nearby.

I'm not a sandwich person, but if I go, I typically go to Subway. It's all stuff surrounded by bread to me.

Who here remembers Matt & Tony's on Victory Blvd., across the street from Victory Drive-In, around the mid-70's? They had the best cold cuts in the San Fernando Valley.

Now I'm hungry. I think I'll run over to Giuliano's Deli for a sandwich.

Of the 3 big generic chains, Togo's used to be the best years ago, but the quality dropped like a rock when they started to expand. Subway and Quizno's are about the same to me, I don't like all the heavy sauces on the quizno's, but it's a little tastier. So it depends on if I'm going for taste or fewer calories.

Once we start talking about local shops, there are so many I don't know where to begin. Hogan's Heroe's, Bay City Deli, some italian deli on Topanga just out of the canyon, some place way out in East LA that has about 200 varieties of beer that I can't remember the name of, really, any local deli destroys any of the generic chains.

My wife likes Subway best so we go to Subway.

If I'm by myself, my favorites are Pelican Deli at the fuel dock in Oceanside Harbor, Red & White Market in South Oceanside or Jimmy's in San Clemente.

6" Triple Play on Wheat, smoked cheddar cheese, mustard, pickles, lettuce, tomato, Italian dressing...2 oz. bag of Rold Gold mini twist pretzels, and a Diet Pepsi with a squirt of lemonade.

My usual, at least once a week.

However, the Pork Loin sandwich from the Cheese Shop in La Jolla is the cat's pajamas.

Also, the actual 'Grab 'n Go' sub from Grab 'n Go is pretty darn good.

Why go to a cookie cutter chain when the small old school italian deli rules?

Cortina's in Anaheim since 1962.

Spicy Ham with everything and a Morretti to chase it.

I vote for Quiznos, even though my mother has a Subway store. But can you imagine, eating subway for whole year + and eating the same old things..

Anyway, I work next to Quiznos and got to know the manager pretty well and get'n freebies :D
My regular sub @ Quiznos is either traditonal or Roast beef dip;);)

Subway. Roast beef and turkey on "wheat" bread, with all the vegies, vinegar, mustard, no mayo and no olive oil. Don't really like other places more calories, and no almost no vegies.

Schlotzsky's makes things that actually resemble sandwiches.

Subway veggie w/avocado & feta. And onion, tomato, spinach, pepperMake it a wrap--less breadiness. Togo's makes a good veggie too.

I still felt like crap, that place seriously makes you sad when you eat there.

They have posters like, "Fat is the new thin", "Converting vegans since 1960", "Fat is cool", "Love your fat"

I felt like a shlob eating there....

I like the Atlanta Bread Company in Texas. Too bad they don't have it here.

Of the 2, I prefer Quizno over Subway; only because their subways look like the advertised photos whereas Subway doesn't. Sweet onion terriyaki chicken or steak and cheese at Subway taste good though. :D

I go to McDonalds after school. Pop tart at breakfast. Thats all my food for the day.
I don't really like Subway or any other sandwich store, but if I had to chose, it would be Subway.

I prefer Togo's over Subway. Only tried Quizno's a few times.

They have a really good prime rib peppercorn. :) Too $$$ though, but then again, it's a once a month thing... I justify it by not hanging out a starbucks. :)

I'm also a Scholtzsky's fan but they are harder and harder to find....:(

Speaking of "meatballs" Quizno's use to have a great meatball sandwich which I craved and would go and order at least once a month. They took it off their menu when they got snooty and started selling things like a Tuscan Chickan sandwich, etc. They also raised their prizes... alot! So I have no reason to darken the door of a Quizno's ever again. As to Subway their sandwiches are OK but there's something about going in one and the smell of vinegar hits me and makes me alittle queasy. All Subway's have that smell and all of their sandwiches taste that way. Ugh!

Back to Scholtzsky, I love their Corn Beef Rueben and in fact any other sandwich they have. And the place doesn't smell like vinegar!

For the last couple of years I have been patronizing a small family restaurant called John's - there are 2 - one in Orange (Chpaman and Santiago Blvd) and one in Tustin (on First Street). Best Patty Melt ever! Or BBG Chicken sandwich (my favorite) And when feeling really decadent I love to get a "Hat" pastrami. So bad but oh so good! ;)

While i do like Quiznos, they're a tad more expensive and not as commonplace as Subway (though when i think about it, there's a new one 2 blocks away from where i live now). I usually go to Subway but it's still not very much compred to my other regular fast food place (In-N-Out). :D

I usually get a 6" Veggie Delite w/everything (and yes everything includes cheese, salt, pepper, oil, AND vinegar because they always ask) and 6" Meatball Sub with pepperoncinis and jalapenos (and tomatoes if free). :D

Jerome,

Thanks for the heads ups, the wife and I have been looking for a good place within the Orange Curtain for years. Typically we have to drive out of town to get something good...
