Hello,

I was reading in this thread http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php?t=340028 about the sale BGI has once a year to clear out all their old inventory. From the people who know the store, it sounds like this LBS is something to see and this sale is just completely over the top. I'm wondering is it about this time of the year they always hold this sale? Also is this store really the cat's meow? Is it worth a drive from Chicago, just to see?

I was looking at this page (I think it's the same shop) - http://bgindy.com/

I didn't see anything about the sale.

I would post in the OP but there's hella flaming and stupidity going on in there.

Thanks all

BGI is nice, but not exactly worth the drive from Chicago. I visit it when already in Indy for family stuff.

There are better bike shops in this area. I would kind of liken BGI to a mix of Bicycles Etc. on 59 in Naperville and Kozys.

Hmmm...

thanks for the heads up. the way they made it sound like in that thread, I visualized a place as big as Sam's club but for biking. Heh.

Bicycles Etc is cool, but I prefer my club Sponsor Get a Grip when I want to buy stuff not from PBK or Performance. Never went to Kozy's...

Agreed...not worth a trip from Chicago! BGI is a nice shop but it doesn't live up to the hype they produce for events like this.

Well you missed the sale anyway. It was over the Labor day weekend. I swung by just because I was in town and checked it out.

I'm always on the lookout for parts and new stuff but left empty handed. To be honest, most of the bikes and gear were lower end stuff that I don't need. It's great for those folks that are just getting started in bicycling though.
