So, I bought a MiNewt last weekend because it's pitch black when I leave in the mornings now and a lot of the trails I ride on to work every day don't have lamps. I needed something that would light the road/path so I could see what I was riding into. The second time I used one of the rubber rings to clamp the MiNewt onto my handlebars, it snapped!! So, this morning I rode to work in the dark with only a low-powered-cars-can-see-me-coming light.

Since I already (stupidly) threw away the box (yes, the trash people have even collected it already), I figured I would send the broken ring back to NiteRider along with an unhappy letter. I hope they will send me a new one! In the meantime, and because I have no faith in the fact that the new one will perform any better than the last, I was wondering if anyone more creative than me had any ideas on how to secure it to my handlebars? I leave it parked downtown for 8+ hours everyday, so I need to be able to take it off.
I would like to figure out a way to mount it on my helmet, but the huge generator is a problem...

Thanks for your ideas!!

+1
Broke one of the mounting rings early on. I think I was pulling too hard on the tab.
Just use any rubber oring of the right size.

The minewt helmet mount works well, along with a longer power lead. Thats how I run mine now.

Wow! There's a helmet mount?!? Awesome!! Thanks so much :D

I don't know why I just assumed that there wasn't! :o

In the meantime, I'll check out the hardware store. Thanks.

NiteRider is wicked good about replacing parts....I used the web form on the niterider site
to complain about the MiNewt X2 mount...the adhesive holding the rubber on was not good and
the rubber slipped during a ride, allowing sticky to touch the bars themselves

they said no problem we'll ship a new part out. 8 days later, it was in my mailbox
and the new part had entirely different adhesive and no way will it slip

Thanks for the heads up. I am having the same issue with my MiNewt lights. Heading over to their site now to drop them a line...
