I have a Cateye wireless that locks up when I used my Light&Motion light. I read that it is caused from the magnetic field although L&M says not much of a field but can cause wireless computers to freeze. Well now I am using a Planetbike 20.00 light and the same happens. Shows no speed reading. Anyone else with this problem or my computer bad. By the way if you move the light away the computer will work but problem is no place to mount it at that point.

Where is your Cat Eye mounted? On the Stem or bars? And the light? How about placing them on opposite ends if already not this way. How far away is the sensor and Cat Eye?

Computer is on stem. I have to mount the light around the head tube for it to work...but the downside is that the light is aimed to high and its not adjustable. A friend of mine put a stubby bar end from a mountain bike on the left side on the drop of the bar and computer on the stem so might try that. Maybe that will put the two far enough apart. Just thought it was odd that it interfered. The wireless sensor is about a foot away from the computer on the right side of the fork.

I've heard of this before, your experience is not unique.

Solution is to get rid of light, remount far enough away to diminish effect, or replace computer with wired model.

I had this happen with my L&M Solo mv and my polar 720i.

My solution was to move the battery to the seatstays, the light itself did not affect the computer.

If polar offered wired computers, I would have bought one. Instead, I have gone to a Garmin Edge 305 which relies on satelites for speed. End of problem.

Didn't try the battery on the back of bike. I'm surprised the cheap battery light affects it. http://www.performancebike.com/shop/profile.cfm?SKU=18046&subcategory_ID=4320

Strangest thing happened. I put the light on the bike and spun the front wheel and with the light on the Cateye Wireless worked... go figure. Maybe mounting it higher on the fork helped but it never worked before.

I don't know what kind of lights those are, but I just started using a Niterider Minewt.X2, which is an LED with an external battery pack, both of which are mounted near my Cateye Wireless on the bars. The computer now gets sporadic faulty readings. Sometimes the cadence will drop out, other times the speedo will be way off. I'll try moving the battery pack to the top tube and see if it helps tonight. On the positive side, the light has magically shortened my commute by an indicated 2 miles! I don't seem to arrive any faster, though...

I also posted this in my Niterider Sol thread, but just wanted to report that moving the battery pack to the top tube helped some, and moving the headlight just 1cm away from the computer seems to have eliminated all the previous problems. I'm happy because I really like both my computer and the Minewt.X2.

Congrats on the light and computer getting along.
