This saddens me so much...how can the police, people who are chosen to protect and to serve, just allow the driver in this case to get away with this? What if this man had been killed?

Every time I see a post like this, it makes me more and more reticent to go out on my bike...

wow, police really suck there. I could have sworn hit and run was a serious charge, but the cops do nothing.

It's a felony. I think the guy did the right thing in going to the news. Perhaps they can shame the cops into doing thier job, even if they don't care.

Local authorities in my area take a very dim view on hit and runs, especially bicyclists, since a number of them ride or have friends that do. Just yesterday, a local driver was charged with a felony count of hit and run involving a bicyclist.

we as cyclists have to make a point of protesting this kind of "inaction" by police... this has to be considered unacceptable.

Do you think cops on bicycles are just as likely to get hit as us ordinary people on bicycles?

Yep. But I think the real question is, are the District Attorneys just as likely to get hit as us ordinary people on bicycles? Or maybe include mayors, city councilmen, county commissioners and heck... let's throw in one or two aldermen into the mix. Or do we keep giving these decision makers a complete pass?
