Mountain Biking - Marin.

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Has anyone heard about it?
the brand? sure. I have a friend who rides quite hard and rocks his 15 year old marin.

Yes most have heard of them. I have an 06 Palisades that I bought at year model end from REI. I had it for a week or two and gutted the entire Deore drivetrain and replaced everything with XT. Also dumped the Hayes Sole brakes for some Avid J7's. My wife's 01 Trek got the Deore stuff.
Great bike, stiff frame. You will not find too many negative posts about them if you do a search.

It is a kind of a silver with a little black in it. It alsmost has hue like black chrome does.
I know this washed-up ex-pro who tootles around on, I think it is, a Marin:

In fact, I think he annihilated my run-time at last year's Masters Worlds :o

Many tree-huggers who don't like mountain bikes on narrow trails. Some very, very, good beer. Great white sharks on occasions. Good burgers and views and Sam's. Behind the Green Door was filmed there. Some great driving roads. Home of Paradigm Trail (Google it, it's still there, despite reports to the contrary), Repack (yawner fireroad), Paranickel, Parapenny and other "bootleg" trails. Good Thai food in San Anselmo and Fairfax.
Good Thai food? I should have asked you for restaurant tips for my trip to the area.
To the OP, didn't you just get a Rockhopper? Why you looking at Marins now?

Excellent quality bikes...you don't know much about them because they don't spend all their $$ on advertising.

i think the pic of the marin silver is really washed out by a flash or something ... I think they do have/had some that are brushed aluminum, but my bike is like silver over a blue undercoat you can see the blue when you chip the paint..
