hey, i just joined this forum
im 16 yr old guy. im thinking about starting bmx mostly street riding, but mabe some park later.
im planning to learn to do basic things like bunny hop and 180s and eventually hope to move up to parks and grinds.
i would like to keep the same bike for a while :P at least till i get better.
im not sure what information is useful in picking a bike so ill just put some random things.
im 180lbs and about 5.10/11". i can ride bikes but have no experience with bmx.
my budget is somewhere from $300-400.
umm if you recomend me a bike could you also explain a little about why its good so i can know what im buying? for example why some ppl done like gyro brakes.
well thanks guys + girls :)

I agree, the DK 6 Pack sounds good for what your doing, or look at the Kink Transition.

:)

gyros are really only good for if you can throw triple bar spins. otherwise you just want a long straight line. (i only am riding mine till someething brakes.)

also can you do single bar spins with brake wires?

thanks again

is there a difference between chromoly and 100% full chromoly? because danscomp keeps using different descriptions on the bike. also i think im looking for a lighter bike than the six pack

Just get the six pack, it's the best frame for the price. you need full cromoly if you arent just riding to the beach and ****.

my friend in real life says that i shouldent get a dk six pack and hes been doing bmx for a long time :\ not saying that any of you guys are inexperienced or anything (like me) but i would like to have a few more choices so i can see whats out there. is the kink transition or whip any good?

Your friend doesn't know what he's talking about. He sounds like the typical uneducated BMX'er who rides for a while yet doesn't know what "cromoly" is.

the pedals on the integral could take you to the hospital.

wethepeople
09-09-07, 09:19 PM
They aren't anything special for pedals, I don't know what you're talking about.

Also, I run the meanest pedals here.

live4muzic2
09-09-07, 09:23 PM
what do you run? those pedals had my freind soaking his sock in blood from a mini pedal slip.

Ever do a big one foot to no foot can, only to have a corner of your shoe land on the corner of the pedal?

If you have, then you know how unpleasant the landing can be, these pedals only need one pin to hold your foot on.

are they custom?

wethepeople
09-09-07, 10:05 PM
no....

Custom to my bike, but they're a well known pedal in the DH/FR scene.

you know its sad when your pedals suck so bad you grip tape them.

wethepeople
09-09-07, 10:10 PM
Some pedals come grip taped:

Also, some people grip tape there pedals for weight savings and other reasons. I know of a few flatlanders that do it.

Last I heard, Fly pedals use grip tape, and they are pretty good.

P.S. I know what you mean.

EDIT for wtp:my friend has old haro pedals flat from wear and tear and we pulled grip tape off a rail from a elementary school because it was in our way and put it on his pedals..

Don't get the Hoffman Disrupter. I have one and it is really heavy. With all four pegs and two 3.5 mm inner tubes (I kept getting puncture flats:D) the bike weighs well over 35 lbs. 37 lbs quite possibly.

my Kuwahara was nearly covered in grip tape back in the day. But I was also nearly covered in minor abrasions.
