I have a 2004 Cannondale Jekyll with a Fox Float L rear racing shock. The bike hasn't been riden for the past 2 years. Will this rear shock need maintainance before riding? Do these shocks lose air pressure over time?

Start by checking the pressure. Put some lube on the shaft and seals, and work the shock by riding it around. Check the pressure again.

If you notice any problems you may need to have it rebuilt. For about $15-20 you can get a seal kit. Otherwise ask your LBS to service it for you.

I've read the several online manuals but none seem to be the right model/year. What I have is a Float RL propedal. The blue lock out lever seems to only have 2 positions they are marked "slow" and "fast" and each are at a 45 degree angle to the shock. Is there a lockout position? Does turning the lever a full 360 degrees one or more times have any effect on the pressure or dampening?

You likely have an OE shock, that was made for your specific bike manufacturer. See if you can find an archive copy of the instructions over at the Cannondale site.

The Propedal you described does not sound like a full lockout. To be certain, look for the specific instructions for your shock.

This is an RC, does it look like this? The blue lever should be "open" suspension or "closed" (lockout). The "faster/slower" is for rebound adjustments.

Yes, it looks very similar. When the blue lever is in the position that is in the pic "closed", it still has some suspension, although it is much less than in the "open" position, is this normal (because it's not a full lockout)?

The manual talks about the 2 positions for the lever but also about turning it 45, 90, and 180 degrees from these positions to increase compression dampening, which is really confusing me. Is that just to fine tune it? What would happen if you turned it 360 degree several times? Would the increased compression be "blown off" after one hard hit?

Mine was fully locked out in the "closed" position, and blowing off(sounds like a pig squealing) on sharp impacts.

Turning it several times will not increase anything. mine was either off or on. however, i never tried to keep it in the middle.

Hi, IŽve got an FloatRC too(sameOnPic). The Lockout position got an extraValve to secure the Lockout in case somebody forgets to unlock & hit downHill_ so the Shock will work this drop even in lock-pos. -Its very clever-lever-& its made just forJekyll by Fox!!! -RideŽnSmile;-)
