Hwy 40 Blue and I and Some Friends Ride Together
Yesterday, 3 friends of mine and I drove to Golden, CO, to meet Hwy 40 Blue for a ride on the Clear Creek Trail. All of my friends were over 70 - including Sally, a lady who does triathlons, Jerry, who has ridden across the country on a mtn bike when he was 66yo, and Ted, who is a veteran of several RAGBRAI's. The four of us rode road bikes - all with drop bars - Ted on his classic and cherished 10 speed with downtube shifters.
We had a great time on a nice 24 mile round trip ride into the Denver area, ending at the remarkable Ralston Creek Trail bridge, which joins the Clear Creek Trail.

There were a couple of challenging hills along the way. Hwy 40 Blue does VERY well on her folding Bike Friday, and I had to work to keep up with her - and I think she was playing with us, and generally goes much faster!
Anyway it was great fun. Thanks, Hwy 40 Blue for leading this ride. Sorry, no one took a camera!
The map below shows the Clear Creek Trail - in the upper left-hand corner, 2nd trail down from the top. If you find the "Gold Strike Bridge" square on the map, that is where we turned around.
