Third and final part:
As we start heading south along the Genesee River Trail, we see the O'Rorke
drawbridge on one side (yes, I do stop to watch it operate..what boy wouldn't?)...
http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r152/crankyolddude/IMG_0460.jpg
and the Charlotte Lighthouse on the other side (yes it's open for tours)...
http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r152/crankyolddude/IMG_0067.jpg
from the port area, we wind back upstream into the woods again and arrive
at this 3/4 mile long bridge which circum-navigates the Turning Basin, which is
full of wildlife...turtles, swan, ducks, heron, fish etc.....

here's a photo from this Spring taken from the Turning Basin bridge...
http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r152/crankyolddude/Swans.jpg
from the south end of the bridge, it's about a mile up this grade to the residential
neighborhood where we started our ride....
http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r152/crankyolddude/IMG_0465.jpg
and back to Cranky's messy garage....
http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r152/crankyolddude/IMG_0466.jpg
This journey traveled a distance of 21 miles. Every time I ride it, I see
something new, and I almost always meet another 50+ cyclist whose
willing to stop and chat a spell. Can't wait till my next day off, I miss the trails
already!!!
Hope this isn't too much info and too many pics....don't wanna be boring.
