I'm looking for a bike that would have at least a 200mm front suspension and a hard tail but with a reasonable price of 900 to 1200.

well isnt that like a ton of travel for a hardtail?
i almost put a marz 888 on my hardtail but realized how supid it wuld be...not to mention it would snap my frame.
Unless you make or modify a frame, i dont think you'll find one- it would have to be custom built

I see a lot of person riding a Evil Imperial frame with 200 mm forks... but it all depends on your frame .... I would not try to put a 200 mm frork on my hardtail

ur an idiot. Why the hell would u want a 200 mm fork on a hard tail? so u can jump off massive cliffs?

Whos the one who can't spell? Why use incomplete words when you are using a keyboard? Aolese is ghey.

200mm fork is overkill, and beyond that most frames aren't made for such height at the front. You are limiting yourself to bike like the evil imperial which can take a long fork. Makes for a very difficult ride with lots of rake.

The OP may want to check out the new Specialized P.All Mountain. I saw one in the shop the other day and it was pretty cool.

it is going to be out of your bugget to build up, and it "only" takes a 170mm fork. its the closests you will find

http://www.norco.com/bikes/mountain/shore_hardtail/rampage.php or http://www.norco.com/bikes/mountain/shore_hardtail/manik.php

the manik is a little over your budget, but its the closest thing ive found. 160mm travel. if you put anymore on, get a FS bike

ths sluggo is closer, and also, not to be mean, but there are other bike companies besides norco, just like you can order from places other than jenson and even with shipping it will be cheaper sometimes.

norco_rider77
09-08-07, 08:08 PM
i know theres other companies, but sadly enough, my homepage is www.norco.com (http://www.norco.com) and tthe reason i prefer to order only from jenson is because they charge you duties, then they pay it, so when it gets to my door, theres no unexpected costs.

also, i find Norco has one of the best varieties of bikes. ive looked at other companies, but Norco always has something to compete with

There really should be a disclaimer pasted across every one of your posts:

WARNING, I'M A FOURTEEN YEAR OLD WITH VERY, VERY LIMITED EXPERIENCE BUT I'M A NORCO FANBOI SO THAT'S WHAT I'LL RECOMMEND.

so why do i see people that always support companies like specialized, but no one complains? since i joined this forum, my expeirence has atleast multiplied 4 times. i have learned a lot on here, and sometimes im just repeating stuff ive seen, but in my own words (yes, i know what plagarism is, but cant spell it).

let me ask you this. would you tell someone, go buy a *enter company name here* *enter bike name here*, just because it looks cool, or has good components? ive looked at Norco's a lot, so im telling people theyre a good bike because i can back that up.

you always tell people stuff because you can back it up (i hope), so thats all im doing.

yes im 14, yes im a Norco fan, but i have more expeirence than you think.

You need to add a disclaimer to your posts.

i think you need to appreciate my intelligence that you dont think have

well the P. bikes are very nice. the forks are stiff so you can do the drops (i mean you can hit 10 foot jumps and they dont bottom out, even rough landings) the P. all moutain has 130mm travel, so thats too much. the P. 2 is a great choice

look at that, i backed up a P. bike!

In the interest of being nice to grommets, I won't comment on your apparent intelligence.

It's not about intelligence. It's about your incredible lack of experience.

One example among many:

"the forks are stiff so you can do the drops (i mean you can hit 10 foot jumps and they dont bottom out, even rough landings)"

Add a disclaimer to your posts. You're not helping folks by post bad advice based upon very, very limited experience.

then why have i seen my friend hit a 10 foot jump and land really badly, and the forks didnt bottom out? yes, i wasnt the one riding, but i still have experience, since i saw it. and dont even bother saying seeing it doesnt count. it does. i experienced the happening of it

that was a mistake, and no disclaimer. i see people make that mistake all the time, they miss something, so this evidence is now...o forget the court term, it just doesnt count.

i mean, if someone wants help with some simple trials stuff, ill see if i can, depending on what it is. usually its help learning something, so i tell them how i did, if i never learned it, i might suggest a video (not of me, im not like you, im not full of myself)

Norco:

Seriously... you may not like the way Pete is trying to help you but in reality your answer to everything is Norco. For example, if the thread was about breakfast, you would suggest Norco Frosted Flakes. If the thread was about coffee- you would say Norco French Roast or maybe Norco Decaf. I'm sure they make decent frames, but if you have never actually ridden the particular one and compared it to others it just becomes wasted bandwidth.

cant the NS B*tch take 180mm forks and still be under warranty? and anyways, im sure 180mm will be enough travel, whats the point in having even more?

Norco, I remember when I felt similar to you about brands. I remember when I thought Raleigh mountain bikes were the best (this was around 1987 when I got my Raleigh Pointe), later it was Diamond Back, then it was GT, then Gary Fisher, then Santa Cruz, then Giant, then IF, then Specialized, then Ellsworth, then Turner, etc, etc, etc. Eventually you will realize that there are quite a few different brands out there. Just about all of them make excellent bikes and not one of them is going to be right for everyone.

Now a days I really don't think it matters too much what brand people go with. The better brands all make high quality frames that are going to do the job. The difference between them are very small and mostly just personal preference.

agreed. I can appreciate the fact that you find Norcos to be a good choice due to the sheer economic benefit. However, you have to accept that other people who do have choices (ie. live in US), may not have the same restrictions as you, and therefore have more options.

Canada has 6 timezones. so for many, thats incorrect.

yes, but you stated...

so I understood you to mean all Canadians, since 'Canucks' refers to all Candians

Pete - get off your damn highhorse and stop using these groms to feel better about yourself. You come across as a real jack***** on these forums, and though your posts are sometimes helpful, they are mostly just annoying. You don't need to pick fights with people just to prove your knowledge. Just make helpful, insightful posts and you'll gain respect.

*que replywithquote haha clever look at me I'm so intelligent remarks*

Norco - don't make posts on topics that you have no experience with. Don't recommend things you've never ridden. If someone asks you about your Norco, tell them all about it. Otherwise, just read and learn.
