Just got back from the Emerald City Lights metric century.

3:44:20 rolling time
62.75 total distance
16.73 mph average

Rolling terrain, a couple good 7% grade, 1 mile climbs, lots of newly paved smooth roads.
Japanamount! performed admirably, although I need to do a BB overhaul because she was starting to get a little squeaky around the 53 mile marker. No flats or other technical difficulty.* Nailed down the wrist and back pain issue to definitely needing some 44 width bars because mine are too narrow. Easy enough to replace.

*I did pull the top clean off my water bottle full of Gatorade while doing about 23mph near the 55 mile marker, and coated the bottom half of my face and my entire jersey front, making me a sticky grody mess by the finish line. My ride partner laughed his butt off.

Finished the ride, ate 2 hot dogs and a 1/2 of a baked potato with some cheese and bacon bits and drank another 2 bottles of water. Stepped on the scale when I got home, and I still came in at 239 pounds. First time under 240 in at least 10 years.

It's a really good birthday. :bday:

Awesome! Spilled Gatorade or not, I would still be a sticky grody mess after a 60+ mile ride at almost 17mph!

Excellent work! What was your starting weight? I had you pinned for an Uber. Maybe it was that big red monkey you had as an avatar that misled me.

Pretty sure that wasn't a monkey....

It was the Juggernaut, from X-Men comics.

I started the year at 262, down just a little bit from last year's peak of 270.

I'll have to see what pix the paid camera-jockeys got. I was rolling fast and lean, so I didn't have a camera with me. All I had was 2 water bottles, 3 Clif Bars, 3 Power Bar gels, 2 tire irons, 1 tube, my mini pump and my ID (with an emergency phone # sticker on the back.)

Whoa, you were travelling light! On the other hand, I'm training myself to take the camera all the time, because I just never know when I'm going to spot that tom turkey lurking on Mud Mountain Road by Enumclaw (yeah, the one the roadies scared off, dang it!).

Yeah I know... my initial "pretty sure it wasn't a monkey..." quote was meant to be half sarcastic and very deadpan. ;) Juggernaut was one of my favorite villains in the x-men series. The whole super vanity thing for a guy who likes to just crash through walls is just too awesome a foil.
