My son is just wrapping up basic training at Lackland and will be spending the next 35 weeks or so at Fairchild AFB. If any of you are in that area and can suggest some of the better road riding routes and mountain bike trails...He's greatly appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

You know there is a lot of great riding out here on and off road. I'm active duty AF and have lived here 12 years, 7 of those on base. For off road Riverside state park is close to base and has about 50 to 60 miles of trails. There's beacon hill for some great down hilling and free riding, Mt Spokane for some even better longer down hills and various other trails in the area . If he is going to live on base there is some good road rides just outside the gate. Check out these web sites for more areas to ride.

Check out bikely.com and search for "Spokane, WA" . My club, as well as many others, have posted ton's of road routes in the Spokane area. From FAFB, you can pretty much ride in any direction and hit good roads right out of the gates.

For MTBing, Riverside S.P., Beacon (accessed either from Esmerelda golf course or Boulder Beach) and the High Drive bluffs are the three main areas around Spokane proper. Mt. Spokane was mentioned and is great, Liberty lake has some good trails, as does Dishman Hills.

He can call Tim at Bicycle Butler on Tuesdays or early Wednesday and find out where the next Wed. night group shop ride will go. He'll meet lots of other riders and learn a lot of trails. I think Tim also leads a weekly road ride.
