it's an older specialized hardrock, cromo tubing.
rock shox jett fork
altus/acera components
promax v-brakes
weinmann 519 wheelset
sram mrx shifters
terry liberator saddle

i don't know how old it is, probably around 1998? not sure.
anyway, reason i ask is because a neighbor left the bike at my apt for the summer. i rode it a few weeks but since i live on 4th floor, i left the bike downstairs by the gate overnight. didn't U-lock it, but used a combo-cable lock. i just want to know how much i should pay my friend? i didn't double-lock it. so i really should pay him. i was thinking $150 or i'll pick up a comparable bike for him? what you guys think?

Too much, IMO. I paid $170 for my Trek 7000, Easton aluminum.

You are definetly responsible for it.

yep and i DO feel responsible. now how much is reasonable? i dunno how much the bike is worth but i agree with Chi that 150 for a hardrock is not a good deal. however since i don't know anybody selling bikes right now, if i was to buy a comparable used bike i'm looking at spending in the 125-200 range anyway.

Oooh ... I didn't read your whole post. :p Yeah, $150 is a good price to pay him back.

I am about to put my old Trek 6500ZX up for sale. It is a 19.5 inch frame. I will probably be asking about that.

i just sold a 97-98ish hardrock last summer for $150 to my buddy. probably a year older than yours because it was a rigid fork
