Well it's true! From sunny Vancouver, British Columbia, CA.
We're close to some interesting touring areas such as:
1. Pacific Rim National Park.
2. San Juan and Gulf Islands.
3. Oregon Coast.
4. Kettle Valley Trail.
5. Icefields Parkway.
These are world class touring destination, in our backyard!
Are you jealous yet?

My name is Mike...(new guy)...first time i rode a bike was
at 3 years, down a fast hill, stood on the seat with my arms
stretched-out and jumped....i did actually fly over the pavement, for a brief moment. Luckily, all my body parts still work.
-----
Now last weekend my girly friend and i rode our tandem from the USA/CAN border to Mt. Baker; a 10,000ft cascadian volcano in Washington. (i was determined to conquer the hill and call it mine.) After 4 hours in the saddle, a cyclist shouts out "ten miles to the top". We hunkered down and climbed for 5 miles. No water. We just about turned back, but a tourist from PA gave us a jug of H2O. A life saver. Man, the next three miles were a killer, we could only look down and pedal, to trick our minds into thinking we were on flat ground. Two miles left and our legs couldn't do anything. I just about gave up. Somewhat delirious i suggested that we walk and ride. We finally made it to the top and the rangers cheered us on...there was even an ice cold pop machine at 4100ft. My girly friend felt somewhat weird and was ready to pass-out, but we made it home in time for dinner.
-----
Once i was touring through Venice Beach, CA...enroute to San Diego...and while cycling, also "counting bikinis". i suddenly ran into a camoflaged metal post, full-force...i blacked-out before i tumbled and hit the dirt, and was found sprawled-out, but moving...by a doctor...he was also cycling...a stroke of good luck...though he was a gynecologist. The good doctor invited me to stay and recover at his place with his family, and some home cooking. He invited me to water ski with his friends...and suggested the excercise would be good therapy. So there i was, all bent out of shape from the accident, wavering on skiis all over LA harbour...it must have worked, cause the next day i was ready to go...Dr. Do packed a beer in my bag and wished me good luck!
-----
Fastest i ever cycled was 68kph, in a tuck, exhillerated, but not exonerated, though once was jaded.
-----
So wish me luck as "the new guy" on the forum...and look forward to talkin to you...unless you're from Cape Breton.
Had a bad experience there once...a buncha Cape Bretoner's made fun of my new "monkey bars" and "banana seat"...
I'll never forgive them for that.
