New here, thanks for the help.
OK. Here's the question. I ride a Cannondale Caad 3 with ultegra/Mavic open pro wheels. Rear is goind south, so...
for @ same price, any experience with Mavic Cosmos set or Shimano rh-r540 wheelset? Experience, opinions, rumor, gossip? Thanks for your help.
Well, I have no experience with either wheels but the Cosmos front wheel is lighter (rears are about the same) and they look stronger (but that's just looks - I'm not sure if they really are). I do have Mavic wheels but they're a different model so I'm not sure my experience counts. FWIW, my Mavic wheels have been pretty solid and maintenance free.

Both are good, the Cosmos ride a little smoother. Have you considered rebuilding on your Ultegra hub (Assuming the hub is not what is going south) Mavis Open Pro, 14/15 spokes and alloy nipples will be light and strong. With brass nipples it will be just a touch heavier and stronger.

Thanks for the reply's.
Went to LBS today and checked out the Shimano's and the Mavic Cosmos. At 2 diff shops. Not impressed with the smoothness of the Shimano's, the Mavic's, however, just keep going, and going. And smooth as glass. My current Ultegra/Open Pro will be fixed and kept but the Ultegra hubs are def not as smooth as the Mavics. Told the LBS to have the black Cosmos brougth in from another of there stores. Will get them Monday.
Thanks Y'all.
