You should have come down today Penguin. It was right up your alley. Very large field (there had to be 50-60 guys, 90% active racers). They cancelled Bear Mtn, so everybody showed up for Nyack, and now they were pissed. The field included Mike Gisler (TT cup winner in NJ for the past three years), Roger Aspholm (fastest amateur human I personally know of), West Point Ben (21st in the P-1-2 G.C. @ Green Mtn), Ray Diaz (NY Vets racing legend),etc. Very fast pace, but fortunately Roger A. did not drope his hamer until the last mile or so, which meant we didn't have to chase him until the Hook Mtn. finishing climb.
I turned to West Point Ben and asked for permission to attach the BF Bungee Cord to his seatpost at the base of the Col du Blue Hill Plaza climb, and he agreed. The elastic stretched on the upper slopes, but it did not snap. Ditto for the Scratchup climb, where I got slightly gapped going on to 9W where the accelleration chasing a group of 3 off the front made it tough, but managed to chase back. Passed a few mopes on the Hook climb, so I finished somewhere in the top 12 or so. Hey, I make it to 9W with those boys and it was a good day. It is always gratifying to be in the same Zip Code as the top finishers on Nyack.
The only thing missing was KP. Eric, you would have enjoyed duking it out with Ben and Roger (1-2) on Hook today. But nobody catches Roger. That guy should be riding pro, but he actually makes more money as a car mechanic. Plus he's over 35 now. God help the 35+ Vets in NY.
Pcad's ego survived another week. I will be taking two (2), count 'em two (2) rest days this week prior to the Slivermine TT. Rest as in the most athletic endeavor on that day will be watching the Mets game.

Maybe the GuitarWizard shall have to show up at one of these things next spring and lay down some pain.
On my motorcycle.

The ONLY thing missing was KP? I'm hurt pcad. And you just watch this sunday. It will be Mikey G, Roger, and I believe Eiether troy or Ken Lundgren against me Goldman and Cosgrove. We shall see how fast this Roger character is. :) We just need you, KP and ....West point ben? Justin Lindine? Should make things interesting.
Ray Diaz (NY Vets racing legend)
what's ol' ray up to?

West Point Ben will not be @ Silvermine. However Roger A. will make Will cry for his Mommy. I want to see the helmet-cam video of THAT. Pcad will only hear of Dr. W.'s results via cellular telephone, since I'll still be miles from the finish line when he completes his ride.
As for Pcad missing another yet another stupid fast dude on Nyack today...ummm.... no. Roger Aspholm is fast enough for all of us. Trust me.
Ray Diaz comes out on Nyack and occasionally tries to get everybody to pull off to the right. As much as I try to reason with him that this is like getting the English to drive their cars on the right side of road, he does sometimes get rather testy on this issue. Unfortunately for Ray trying to get the Nyack Ride to change is harder than getting the Cubs to the World Series. He remains stupid fast, but probably not quite as fast as he used to be.
Essentially Nyack is like bike racing without the entry fees, fewer crashes, more iPods, and exciting traffic light encounters with motor vehicles who continually surrender their green-light rights of way to a charging pack of 50+ testosterone crazed NY road nazis. Plus how many bike races have the post-ride wrap up @ the OCP Epicenter of North America (Nyack's Runcible Spoon coffee shop on Sun AM)?

Justin be in Europe for the next few weeks, taking a well earned vacation.
Also, I woke up this morning and was still buzzed. Riding would have been interesting. :D

If I had $50 for every time I finished Nyack with a hangover in my partying days I'd have enough money to buy that SRM. Now Pcad cycles on caffeinne and iPod. Only the latter is on the USCF Banned Substance list.

does the ride head north or south after that? and is it on 9w? so many questions...
usually nyack is my turn around point before returning to the city. it would cool to ride up there, and then head back with the group.

Heads south through piermont for a bit, and IIRC it goes into jersey for a short amount of time.

The ride goes south from Nyack, through Piermont to Piermont Road, down Piermont Road to Englewood and then the ride U-turns and heads north on Knickerbocker up through Rivervale, Pearl River, up to Haverstraw, then south on 9W back to Nyack. Show up in Nyack @ 8:15 and the Nyack Express will have you back in Englewood (2-3 miles from the GW Bridge) by 9AM or so.

What do I have to do to get more of you friggin WUSSIES out on the Nyack ride? You chickensiht friggin posers. So far the only one with enough cajones to show up is KP.
Tell 'em KP. Maybe if enough of you idiots show up you can muster enough collective watts to drop Pcad. You'll be disappointed to hear that for most of this season that has not been the case. Come on. Make it so.

By the way, I'm printing out that last post in the hope of convincing my wife I'm sufficiently macho to warrant a little sex upstairs this weekend. Two days off the bike and I'm totally losing it.

bahahahaha
The Nyack ride is fun, for sure. If I didn't hate waking up so early on a sunday I'd do em every weekend from now till spring.

Thank God for youthful partying indescretion, or Pcad would be chasing that damn KP every Sunday all friggin winter. I'd never survive until Spring.
