General Cycling Discussion - Making a living w/bikes

I'm just wondering if there's any hope for me finding a job doing what I'm passionate about (bikes). I know it's hard to find a position with any company/org. outside of being a mechanic or bike messenger, so I'm asking for your input. I want to find a job with a non-profit organization that either works in bike advocacy or works to help people get out of poverty in other countries. I know it would be easy to combine the 2 of these (for ex. send used bikes to some country, etc.), but how to do it AND get paid is the question. (I'm not Mother Theresa - I need an income of some sort.) I'm not good at coming up with ingenious ideas like this. The only other thing I'm interested in (and good at) is teaching ESL. But I would really like to work with bikes in some capacity.

What sort of non-profit bike organization would have enough money for full-time employees?

Try something like: transalt.org, times-up.org, teach kids to ride/fix bikes (very hard btw), organize a bike tour.

I read the part, but it slipped my mind while posting.

You could always start your own NFP organization that does EXACTLY what you want. Or contact some other charitable group and see if you can form a spinoff under their wing.
But hey, i'm a white man, and you're not making me richer! :(
