Mountain Biking - Post your dirt jumpers

I know there are a bunch of: post your this and post your that here. but there are none that are specifically for dirt jumping mtbs. I am deciding between two frames i own to build a dirt jumper. my options are either something along the lines of this:

i have that frame and i have a haro v1 frame

or i could turn my Haro v one into a dirtjumper, it works really well with a 100mm fork, and it already has a headset installed, it takes a 68mm bb

the other one needs a 130-150mm fork, a headset, 73mm x unknown length bb.
what do you think

i am thinking a rear disc brake(Avid bb7, no front), 8 speed rear cassete, i have a really decent bolt on wheelset, truvativ crankset, instead of a chainguide i will use an inner plate, sdg freestyle saddle, etc.

Defenitely use the Haro, you want around 100mm for DJ.

-No, 9mm QR, for the same reasons as below.
-Mostly because it's made in the same factory as Giant's "trail" MTB's and it's cheaper to make like that.

but to go get that fork i would need to order from chainreaction and shipping is crazy exspensive its also relativly hilly around here, would be bad at the trails but bad getting there

Depending on how hard you push the bike and yourself, yes, it is worth it.

Only issues I see there is you want some faster rolling tires, like K-Rads or Holy Rollers, and maybe a longer brake cable.

K-rads and Holy Rollers don't work on some sets of dirt jumps, a lot of times our jumps are to loose for those types of tyres so we run knobbies.

Also, he doesn't need a long brake cable unless he is doing bar spins and tailwhips.

I hate street MTB's, DJ MTB's are kinda lame but I put up with them. If it's to loose for me to ride my slicks I have a set of Tioga comp 3's that I'll toss on.


i've never ridden jumps where knobs worked better than my hookworms. invariably, knobs role way slower.

Our jumps are pretty much sand, after the rain they're awesome but after a few weeks in the sun they can be almost un-ridable.

i think you need top put more cables on that bike.

lol. they are gradually getting taken off, front deraliur (spelling :S) is now off, poplock is getting taken off as soon as i get stiffer springs as i will have no need for compression adjustments.
