Road Cycling - Anyone ride Cervelo Bikes?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

A friend of ours is ordering one and has asked questions about it that no one we know can answer from experience.
How do they ride? Do the hold up well? Any warranty concerns?
Are they responsive and quick?
Any information is greatly appreciated so I can pass this info along to our friend.

Tyler Hamilton was on one in the TdF - so I imagine they must ride comfortably for him to survive the race with a broken collar bone. Maybe he will be able to get a sponsorship deal with Advil.

I have had my P2K for about a year and a half. I ride it about 200 miles per week and haven't had any "warranty" issues, just minor repairs. It's stiff, but not so stiff that it's uncomfortable. My only problem is that I'm not doing many triathlons anymore, but I'm doing a lot more road riding, so I might be getting rid of it in favor of a strictly road bike.

Doesn't that belong in "Political Discussions" forum? :D
I was getting serious about buying a Cervelo Soloist Pro until I learned that the seatpost is a propriatary (sp?) oval shape with minimal adjustment. I don't accept that type of stuff on my bikes.
A Trek 5200 is looking more likely to be in my garage this year...

Buying a Cervelo would be more *special* ya know? But a Trek 5200 is nothing to be ashamed of :D
Has anyone seen the latest intro page on Cervelo's website? I absolutely love it! I'm waiting to see the Limited Edition 2.5 complete with Team CSC spec up close. So sweet... especially the FSA Team CSC special edition cranks.

There's a lot of people in this thread who've never watched Southpark - if you took offense, none was intended :(
The CSC carbon frames are supposedly $2000 US for the standard and $3500-4000 for the SL (underk 1 kilo) framesets. Not a bad price for a damn beautiful bike.

It was funny.Bomb France while your at it.
Keep up the bomb stuff and this thread will earn a free ticket to the political spam forum..You guys don't want that do you? Then you'd have to ask for access just to see that awesome picture!!
Even if they are jokes, it's liable to turn into a fueled debate about American imperialsim or the constitution or something like that.
I think it was "Blame Canada" anyway.

"Blame Canada" was the name of the song from the move, the plot of the movie was to "Bomb Canada" in retaliation for the Canadians bombing the Baldwin's and the Arquette's over Mothers Against Canada protesting Canada harboring Terrence & Phillip.
Anyways, bad attempt at pop culture based humor, sorry!
p.s - Cervelo's are awesome bikes, read the reviews I linked way earlier in the thread if you want some more info to hunt down.

I have had a Cervelo Prodigy (steel frame) for about 2 weeks and love it. I got an amazingly good deal on it ($1700), but even at $2K, which is the price of the new Super Prodigy, it would have been a great buy. Big fan of Cervelo here.
Photos to be posted later this weekend!

I've got a bunch of miles in on a 01 Prodigy and have nothing but good things to say.
Anything in particular you're interested in about the Prodigy?

I read somewhere that all of the cervelos have the same geometry, reguardless of their size, resulting in really long wheelbases in the larger sizes, which means slower handling. someone please sonfirm this for me.

The wheelbase is a touch longer than some bikes I've ridden, but not outrageously long.
My 58 Prodigy is right at 100.8 CM which is a bit longer than say a similar size Bianchi (99.5cm) but very close to Cannondale's 58 at 100.6cm.
I'd say the Cervelo's handling is quick but not twitchy. A great bike for long days in the saddle that feels very comfortable in a pack. You can look over your left shoulder without worrying about taking out the guy to your left... that kind of stable.

One of the bikes I test-rode before getting the Prodigy was the Jamis Comet - light, fast as he77, and twitchy as all get-out! I told my wife that had I gotten that bike I would have advised her to double my life insurance ...
The Cervelo in 56-cm trim is much faster in handling response than the LeMonds, which seemed downright leisurely in comparison. It is quite comfy over the longest ride I've taken so far - 30 miles - though I guess I'm going to get hauled along for 40+ tomorrow am. Wish me luck!

shokhead, I had to cut off at 24 miles because of a bizarre occurrence with my cleats ... d#@& bike shop didn't tighten them enough, and I ended up not being able to rotate out on my left foot because the shoe went round and round ...
At any rate, here is the (2002) Prodigy I rode today:
