Are you going just for a visit or a permanent relocation?

The Cleveland Metroparks are beautiful and have some decent paved trails, wide roads.

The whole University Circle area, by Case Western Reserve University. Art Musuem lagoon etc.

A ride to the West Side Market would be cool/fun to see. Also that whole area of Treemont is nice for bikes.

Also, I would check out Lakewood. From there you can check out the Waterfront and some pretty cool neighborhoods where alot of the young people are moving to.

** Murray Hill is pretty great too! If your coming from SF, you won't mind the climb probably. (Check out Presti's Bakery for amazing artichoke and/or eggplant pizza - and Corbo's for amazing sweets) From University Circle, take Mayfield Road up through Murray hill, ride to the top and then turn right on Coventry road to check out a pretty cool shopping area (Home of Big Fun).

Good luck!

actually my parents live there and I lived there when I was much younger so it's just a little vacation to have fun, but since living in NYC and Sf I no longer even have a license so I'm just gonna continue on my two wheels!

I live on Random which is off of Mayfield (a block over from Murray Hill). If you wanna go for a ride or something I can ask some of my friends if they wanna. I think my recent obsession with bikes was contagious because now there are a couple fixters in my class who I ride with. :) Overall though I haven't seen too many people out there riding fixed in Cleveland.

Dude, Murray Hill isn't a hill at all. It's that brick road connecting Cedar and Mayfield. The big hill is on Mayfield, past the turn for Murray.

murray hill is a road...and it also refers to the topographical area surrronding that hill, it was also the original moniker for little italy; look at an old map of cleveland "Little Italy is a neighborhood in Cleveland, Ohio located at the base of Murray Hill" first line from a wikipedia article on little italy cleveland

Interesting...never heard of it like that. So Nottingham Spirk is considered to be located at the top of Murray Hill?

fwiw...i spent all of the 70s and 80s within walking distance of the area in discussion. 'murray hill' and 'little italy' were synonymous, both definitely referring to the general neighborhood and not to a specific road.

but if it's hills you're after, i suggest you head east and chart zig-zag course back and forth through the chagrin river valley.
