SD Fixed

I've been converting and old road bike to a fixed gear, and have removed the rear brakes. The front brakes are all that remain. These are center pull Diacombe. I've removed the 27 inch wheel, and put on my 700cc wheel from my R600. The brakes reach, which was my first concern. However; it seems that the guide that the wires goes through to center the cable is flexable #1, and #2, since the pads have been slipped all the way down to the bottom end of adjustment to reach the smaller wheel, the brakes themselves flex slightly.
In and of them selves niether of these issue cause much of a problem. However, toghether, this flexability has killed the ability to use a front brake affectively. (or is it effectively).
Does anyone know of a fix for this?
