Introductions - Ride too much

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I do some road racing, but focus on ultra cycling, pretty much rides over 150-200 miles. Training for the Furnace Creek 508 in October. Just hoping to finish respectable.
Bikes: Colnago C40 bstay, geo painted, Record 10 sp; Bianchi EV2, Celeste, Dura Ace and light parts (the climbing bike); 1980 Bianchi Rekord 748, all Campy; Bianchi Milano Nexus 7 speed, KHS tandem.

Ride about 200-500 miles per week, usually with one really long ride per weekend.
I'm obsessed.

Wow, that's pretty awesome, Taft! Nah, don't think there's such a thing as riding too much, especially in this group. :D However, you sure put on more miles than I do! I'm truly envious!
Welcome to the Bike Forums!
Ride about 200-500 miles per week
When do you have time to work?? :D
Wow! And I thought I rode a respectable amount commuting 3-4 days a week (14 miles one way) and 25-50 miles on Saturday and Sunday! Wow!
Anyway, welcome to BF.
Tell us about your adventures -- when you're not out riding. ;)
I think there are 11 or 12 Doubles rides in California every year. How many of them do you do? I have several friends that ride them every year. Several of them even do tandem doubles. The Davis Bike Club isn't too far from where you are. Know any of those riders? How do you like that KHS Tandem? If you feel like answering, send me a message to the Forum mail box.
Good luck at the Furnace Creek 508.

Welcome to Bike Forums Doug. I wondered how long it would take for you to get here from Road Bike Review. You will find it very refreshing here.....there is very little flaming in this forum.....and that is a great thing! :) The issues here are all usually very interesting and helpful...you're going to fit in nicely here! A fantastic addition, welcome welcome!
Yep...welcome welcome from meee too!! :)
I'm just starting to get into my commute (12 miles a day) so have a little way to work up to your high standards...
Enjoy the forums!!
Rich
How did you do in the 508? Had a friend who finished in 42 hours. The oldest rider to ever finish. That is a grueling ride.

You are not obsessed, you should be proud. Anyone know of jobs, other than in cities like New York, where you can do this for a living. That would be great. I look forward to retirement some future year, so I can do that kind of riding. If my commute was like 16 miles instead of 27- I would commute probably 66% of the time.
