Just curious, is just "liking" someone enough to have a relationship with them? I mean, what if there are 2 people and one really is infatuated with the other, and the other person is just... like yea I like you, you're cool, it's fun to hang with you, but I'm I mean uhh he or could be a she just "likes" the other person for now, and needs more time to "feel out" Na'mean? Should this person just dive in and go for it? or wait till they know the feelings are stronger?

Serious posts only, and when I say serious posts I really mean go ahead and ruin my thread. :p

Hmmmm...that's a hard question. A few years back I chose to dive into something and I got hurt, so now I would advise stay "just friends" until you know the feelings are fairly mutual.

Now for my serious response.

It depends on both people involved.

Just 'liking' is a good enough reason to get into a relationship, but there are things to consider before doing so.
1. If the other person really is infatuated or more, you should let them know up front.
2. Do you really think theres a chance the feelings could grow stronger, if yes, go for it, if no, just try and make them F*** buddies instead, and once again, let them know up front.
3. Is it worth the risk of possibly loosing them as a friend to try out the relationship?

Already have, I mean hypothetically "he" already has. ;)

I guess the question is, go for it and risk someone being hurt? or waiting and seeing what happens.

If by i"nfatuated", you mean has the object of desire dressed in a gimp suit, locked in a trunk, and by "likes" you mean will say anything, including kill, to get out of the gimp suit and the trunk, then I cannot answer, as I feel anything I say could be self incriminating.

I say dive right in. Especially if you're really hot for him/her. And especially if you want to get your heart ripped out of your chest and stomped as flat as a pancake. It's even better if you work with him/her, because then you get to hang around while he/she goes on to his/her next conquest, and you get to see that poor bastidge follow her around like a puppy, looking for the least little bit of acknowledgment. A smile. A nod of approval. Anything. And does he get it? NO! She spurns him, too! Dumps him like a piece of used jet trash.

The up-side is that you could end up with a real good drinking buddy! Oh wait, you don't drink.

Never mind. Good luck with that, though. :)

Should this person just dive in and go for it?

Dive in? That could be very messy and painful.

Stick a toe in first and swirl it around...if the "water" is "fine" then ease on in. Be sure to wear a "life jacket".

Better men have been lost in less treacherous conditions.

Godspeed!

And by that I mean slow your roll homie.

Definitely take the smooth and slow approach. If you continue to hang out and things come out of it, then great. If it's rushed then once the magic's gone, you're stuck it a crappy relationship.

I'm in the same boat :)

Slow and steady. Slow. and. steady.

Thank you Zen masta pimp.

The question is, once you're in a relationship with someone, it isn't as easy as 1,2,3 to break up once you realize it isn't right for you is it?

Ref red house's threads.

Is your hair long enough to date a caveman? Dating them involves getting clubbed in the head and dragged into a cave, if the cartoons are correct.

If you're considering the difficulties of an exit strategy before the relationship begins, it's probably best that it doesn't.

Sorry, dude... being a shy, quiet nerd who hasn't a clue how to get a girl's attention, that's about all I have to offer. :o My friends, sisters, parents all tell me to be less shy and to talk to girls more and what not, but that's another issue... back to you... yeah, listen to jyo.

If she doesn't want to F’ ya now she won't want to F’ ya later. You can spend a long time as the friend who wants to be more than friends but eventually she will just find a guy she wants to jump.

Relationships build over time, but sexual attraction is instantaneous. Move on or be prepared to be the friend who gets to watch her be with other men.

Not necessarily. At least not for women. Okay, at least not for me. I met a guy I wasn't totally attracted to at first, but I got to know him and his personality, and we just "clicked". The attraction came over time, and it was a rather intense attraction.

Even really shy guys make exceptions for girls that really get their attention. After the Foo girls gave me so much shaving advice and even my own photo tutorial, I felt compelled to return the favor.

Oh, and that's also a good way to get a girl's attention.Oh sure, he does it on a bike and it's "hot" and "attention-getting," but I do it on the street with the aid of a trenchcoat, and I'm a "pervert." Pfft.

I like you as a friend but.......

As long as as you strike while the iron's hot, you can start out with the friend approach and move in when the timing's right.

No one knows exactly when that is, but once you see it, goddamnit, act on it!

Nice guys finish last because they want the girl to carry them over the finish line.

Don't be that guy. Grow some balls.

The old saying "Get it while the gettin' is good" applies here. Just don't be suprised if it doesn't work out. I was in a situation like this recently. It lasted about a year before we couldn't make it work any longer. We are still friends and hang out, but it takes a lot of work and patience to keep the friendship going.
