I keep my lock attached to my down tube on my mountain bike, but whenever I put the lock in it's holder it moves back and forth when I ride, I have tried to tighten the little bolt/ nut but so far it hasn't worked, does anyone have an idea of what I can do to stop this from happening? I will buy a hew older if I have to.
Could you buy those tiny bungee cords (like a couple of inches long) and bungee cord the lock to the tube so it doesn't move?

Those u-lock holders suck! You should be able to adjust the tension, unless the bolt is striped. A Velcro strap may be an option in order to secure to the holder/lock to the frame. If not a new holder is less then $10.00.

Thanks to everyone who responded, I will try a new bolt, and if that doesn't work, I will have to get another one. Or should I get some panniers and keep the lock in there? It would free up some room for a water bottle.

My panniers have a mesh side pocket and a zippered pocket that my locks fit into. I use a cable and a U-lock for added inconvenience for the thieves. For under $50.00, you should be able to find a bag and a rear rack at MEC.
