Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - More progress

Well, it's almost done. Paint is dry and the paint job sucks ~ I'm not sure why I put so much effort into the paint job other than to learn to do it...

I've run into problems with the long reach center pull brakes.. and I'm still waiting for the correct gear.

I re assembled everything greased the bottom brackette. I need to do work on the forks, they are a pinch loose.

I scavenged a seat post and a pedals from my MTB that's been dead for a few months.

I should have pictures in a few days.

Why do you think the paint job sucks? What went wrong? I'm trying to decide if I want to just go ahead and build up my singlespeed or paint the frame first....

*ditto* to what Zack said. I am getting ready to paint my track frame and I wonder how it will come out..

I uesed Hammerite which is normally an AWESOME spray paint (use it on rock rails on my jeep.. gooood stuff).. and it just wouldn't dry and it came out poor.

The section where I used rustoleum came out 100% better.

The other portion is I painted it blue and white, and I've come to the conclusion that white is just a bad choice anyway due to getting dirty all the time.

I used Jasco paint stripper which works great; but it is toxic as all get up. It ate through vinyl gloves, burns skin... But it removed the paint clean.

If anything, I didn't wait long enough for the primer to bond, and I probably put the hammerite on to thick at first. Small thin coats is the key I suppose. It didn't have time to dry properly. But, it's a beater bike, so it's cool.

I may strip it again and repaint it again.. Flat black?

But, really, I want to get out of painting it and get on the road.. Just waiting for my track cog to get here.

I've got brake issues too, but I posted that question in the mechanic forum.

Hey, same here. I just got done stripping paint off my Bianchi Pista frame. Still deciding on color and what primer & paint to use...

I used a cut off wheel with my handy dandy makita drill to remove some excess cable runs and rack mounts:

Here's the pile of parts not needed.. It's grown a little more now.

I didn't take anypictures during the paint process, as I knew I'd leave the camera laying somewhere and get paint on it (it's bad when you know enough about your faults to watch out, but not correct the problem :P ).. But I'll snap some more pictures and post them in a few days of the completed frame.

I hodge podged it all together to make sure everything worked. and rode it a little once I got done with it for there. It was then I discovered my fixed cog wasn't playing well with others. Sadly, it'll be a few days for my LBS to get the part. I could order it cheaply, but, really, I'm sticking with the LBS because the guy has been super helpful (ya' reading rev. chuck?)...
