Forum Suggestions & User Assistance - Word Length Minimum Length for Searches - Ignore Numbers

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I get it that if someone searches for 'I' it's going to put stress on the server and return plenty of useless search results.
But if I'm searching for 27" rims it won't let me because of the minimum character length of 3. There should be a few frequently used terms that should be allowed when combined with other words or a way around this, no? Maybe count letters only and ignore numbers?

It's a limit of MySQL full text searches. :( It can be changed but it lessens the efficiency of it.

By ignoring numbers, you still won't be able to search for 27".
