Foo - I rolled my Jeep today :(

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
But it's OK, the thing is made for it.
Yup, looked just like a poor little turtle on its back.
The really bad part is that the only person around to help was some 16 year old girl in an old beat-all-to-hell Golden Eagle pickup truck. Hooked my wench to her truck and she helped flip the beast back over. Impressvie drivetrain she had there.
A little work and dry time and I was able to drive back to the trailhead and trailer it up.
And I've been feeling al embarrased ever since. and I know how she is going to be bragging to all her friends how she had to help a poor hillbilly out today.
Man am I bummed.
I need a drink.

Hooked my wench to her truck
You might want to rephrase that.
You might want to rephrase that.
OK
I gently handed her my 9000lb WARN Tool and she slid it into a hole in her rear and began to apply pressure. She pulled and pulled and dug her meats into the soft bedding.
After a few position changes I was off my back with fluids dripping on the ground.
I thanked her and offered her money for her aid but she said that it was most definately her pleasure. She loves to give her older machinery a good workout every once in a while.
I cleaned up some of the mud, made a few adjustments, and am now enjoying a beer at work.
How's that? :D

You had to be rescued by a GIRL! *points and laughs*
SHUSH!!!!
She had a cool pickup!
Not that I'd trade my scrambler for it.

Hey, much better to be rescued by a girl than to have to walk out and find help. :p
But... you know. Guy code says I HAVE to make fun of you. It's a legal requirement.
Just glad you're ok, pj.
Thanks Donna, but that aint the first time I've flipped a jeep, or that one to be precise, and it likely won't be the last.
I just love the mud crawl get together they have up in Bad Axe. Next time you visit your parents I'll have to take you up there and scare the hell out of you! :p

It's a Jeep. If you're not flipped over, you didn't try hard enough.
There's no shame in needing a uprighting.
You at least got her CB handle, right?

Pics? I'm a Jeep fanatic too. Here's a pic of my junk. I drove out of this spot too. :D

Did you get the "I'm completely hosed, may as well just be aware of whats going on" moment just prior to rolling?
No pics, sorry. I have quite a bit of photos of it here at work (they sponsor the jeep jamborees and I wear their badge at some events) but I haven't gotten anything online. I rarely have pics of anything online.
Bryan that's a pretty cool rig.
Somewhere out there on the interwebs is a pic of me and a buddy sitting in the bed of his cj20 catfishing, while parked in the middle of the river, and the beer cooler floating and tied to the bumper. heh

Actually it was more of a "wow, this incline is steeper than I thought, and that's one huge ass rock I'm teetering on, I wonder what would happen if I turn my wheel this way..." kind of feeling. ;)
At least it was a learning experience.

Boy, I ought to slap you silly for that comment! :p
Looks like he damaged something in that video. heheh
BTW, I helped make those things, for the price, the H2 is nothing. It was actually designed and marketed for suburban women, not for off roading. Technically just a Tahoe with a body kit... and ugly body kit.

Lost the LOLS, and learn grammar better. Or you won't even last in foo.
Yea, foo is clearly a dark and menacing corner of the internet. Be wary of its word filters and well-wishers.

Always was with him, his old man owned a liquor store so a party with him meant the good beer!
Can't wait till my boy is old enough for this. I swear I have more fun jeepin' than I do mountain biking, hopefully he'll like it too.

GEEEZ that was bad! No more late night forums for me!
I wonder how one of the new Toyota FJ Cruisers would do in those conditions. With my luck, I'd end up flipping it before I even got to the gnarly stuff.

They don't do to bad actually.. I have been impressed where I have run across them!
Having owned two Landcruisers, I'm curious to see how our Grand Cherokee will do in the rough. They look so frail. That tool in the H2 appears to have busted a tie-rod. What a knob! Doesn't look like he aired down, and lots of wheelspin. He never should have left the Starbucks parking lot.

Grand Cherokees do pretty well actually, even when in stock form. What year Grand do you own?

1995. I have a set of 31's packed into the back, just need to order the suspension kit so I can fit them under. It's just something for the missus to drive to work in the snow, and perhaps go play once in a while.

I am no 100% certain, but I believe with only a 2" body lift you can fit some pretty meaty 33 MT Mud Claws under those. But I've never owned an XJ so like I said, I'm not sure.
But I have seen a couple of impressive ones at the sand dunes before.

We'll probably just get the spacers, just don't know whether to go 2" or 3". Luckily, the Jeep guys are just up the road.

Grand Cherokees are uni-body design so no body lift for them. A spacer lift would do the trick if you are trying to fit a set of 31's. 2" should do just fine.

Should I cancel the order for 9" coils? ;)

Thanks for setting me straight.
I was under the impression that purt-near all jeeps could handle 33s with a 2" BL.

I always liked the old ZJ's. I would love to have a 98 5.9 LTD as a daily driver.

Yeah, I was trying to figure out how it all works under there. No leaves? I have to admit, while I loved my 'Cruiser, a Jeep costs but a fraction of the price.

No need for the 5.9 in my book. Here's what it will look like:

You're calling a '98 old??!!?!
My scrambler is 25 years old, and we have been working on 2 DJs (a 5A and a 6) that are from the 60's. :p

The more and more I come across those (FJ Cruisers), the more I like them. Yes, they are ugly, but they get decent gas milage, are safe and reliable, and can go off road if need be.
Guess I know what my next vehicle will be when I'm out of college.

Sorry, I was referring to the old body style of the Grand Cherokee. They're on their 3rd body redesign.

A used one, I suppose? Or are you planning on dropping $30k right after graduation?

Why were you embarrassed? I thought Jeeps were supposed to be rolled and flipped. I would have been giving you hi-5's.
