So, is it a pure climbing machine, a pure descending machine, or a pure sprinting machine?

I know. I was thinking about compiling everyone's new bikes for a "SoCal New Bikes of 2007" thread. :p
I don't have a new bike of 2007. :( But there's still 3.5 months to get the job done! ;)

I am 6'
When I went for my test ride, they had a 56, and 58 Soloist for me. I jumped on the 56 first (as my Madone is a 56), and it fit like a glove :)
WOW! Your bike looks fast just sitting there! It is beautifully put together. Enjoy!

That's about what I figured. At 6'3" I think the 58 would work for me. Enjoy the ride!

Strangely enough, in Greg's world this is the "Jan" whom he is trying to beat.

One of our regulars showed up at today's ride on his brand new SLC-SL. It is quite gorgeous. And almost 2-dimensional -- from behind, you can barely tell that there's a bike frame in there somewhere.

Well I took Akira out on her maiden voyage tonight, and she did not disappoint!
The route would be a quick shot down PCH, up Newport Coast, and on up Vista Ridge, descend Ridgeline, San Joaquin, and back up PCH to beat sun down.
The ride down PCH was a quick one, as I had a real nice tailwind. First thing I noticed is that the Sram cassette is not on par with my old Dura-Ace, and it will quickly be replaced. While I could live with it, I'm all over the smooth, quiet, and solid shifting of the D-A that I am used to.
It didn't take long to realize how quick, and stiff (BB) the SLC-SL is compared to my old 5.2 Madone. But where I'd really come to appreciate the BB is when I made the left up Newport Coast, and stood on the pedals! One word, solid!
Now here's where she really gets fun, descending! As I made the left onto Ridgeline, it didn't take long to feel the headwind that I would be riding into all the way home. I got in the drops, and the next thing I know I am doing 48.7 mph into the headwind! Great stuff!!!
Sadly the sun started setting, and I had to get on back. First impression is that she is FAST, and LOVES to descend. Can't wait for round two!!
