First off, Pete Fagerlin don't come and get all snarky please, I've been told you were the devil and may be mean. Or have been. Maybe in the past. Possibly now though. Or you'll be cruel in the future. I forget which exactly.
S'a joke, kinda like.
I've a friend who has an older MTB. Probably around early 90s. The shifters on this here unit are whoever Cane Creek used to be. The name escapes me. I happen to have a complete basic quality drivetrain in 9 speed sitting around bringing down the property values if ya know what I'm sayin'. The bike is a steel Gary Fisher made in the good 'ol US of A. He apparently can't or won't find any 7 speed replacements so he's asking me about upgrading a couple of speeds. He knows about the rapidly declining real estate in my garage and is taking advantage I suspect.
I've agreed to furnish a Deore crank and cassette with LX front and rear mechs and it all luckily fit fine, after I added a spare square taper BB to the pot. Here comes the actual question now. I've got a set of Deore shifters AND a set of SRAM Attacks. He doesn't seem to prefer the push/pull to the push/push. We tested on the bar. They both happen to be black so that's out. I don't get the $70 and Beer until this lady is ridable so we gotta know which is the better shifter? I suspect they are too close to matter and thumb/finger or looks preference should apply but the waterhead wants an answer. Says I'm trying to pawn off a lesser quality set. Some kinda nerve, boy.
