I am the only one here that has mountain bike and a road bike, but still ride the mountain bike more on the road. Guess it is just me being lazy but it is just easier to hop on the MTB and go. Anyway just curious.

Thanks
Matt

You are far from the only one. I would say there are more multi bike riders here than not. Personally I prefer a mountain bike because I am a bit of a thrill seeker and make fun of the fact I have 'ADD' of biking. I need constant changes and road biking (or even basic xc) doesn't give me that.

I do ride a bit of BMX on the side as a second discipline of riding. But that is still very new and I only borrow the bmx as I don't own one yet.

There's plenty of people that do both, or even one more than the other.

I was a roadie in the early 90s, sold my Bianchi.

I'm all mountain biking now! I like getting to places up in the mountains/desert that many people don't get to see because either a Jeep won't get you there or hiking would take too long. It's a good challenge for me, and a good workout. I feel so proud of my body after climbing a lung busting hill.

I have a 2003 Specialized Hardrock Pro that I ride a few days a week in the dirt and a few days a week on the road...Wanted to go faster on the road so I bought some Specialized Fat Boy tires at LBS....Very happy with them...picked up a few mph. Now I'm looking for a road bike so I can keep my mtn bike in mtn trim. I love the speeds on the road, but I also love tearing it up on the trails....I guess I'm greedy, I want it all!

Oh yeah one more thing...be careful if you ever put road tires on your mtn bike...I scraped my pedals on the ground on the first few turns I took with the the new tires....I guess it picked up some good speed thru the turns...lol

I ride both. Rode mountain for two years before I purchased a road bike. If you put a gun to my head and made me choose,I would take mtn. However,I put more miles on the road bike out of convenience.

I ride both but I am edging closer to MTB these days.

I've got a Lemond that I ride for road training. I put more miles on the road bike because of the convenience factor. I can just ride out of my driveway and ride for 20-30+ miles in a relatively short amount of time, but I've got a long drive to any kind of decent trailhead. I definitely enjoy mountain biking more and would rather be on my MTB, but with work and a busy schedule it's easier to get on the road bike for a ride.

I just built my freeride bike ( http://www.pinkbike.com/modules/photo/?op=view&image=106751 ), but I am searching for a touring bike, and I have a singlespeed road bike for commuting.

Diversity of steeds is essential, especially to a hardcore mtbiker! Learning to ride a road bike effectively in the city makes riding my freeride rig amazing (so stable, so much control, so much balance!). And learning to shift my weight on a mtb taught me to balance and control my roadbike (stoppies and trackstands are essential at traffic lights!). Any bicyclist who limits themself is only limiting their understanding of the bicycle!
