Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - Planning on using my track bike on a century (Potomac Pedalers) Any FG guys going?

Actually my buddies only want to do the metric century so I thought I would take my Waterford and get a better workout.

Anyone else from this forum going?

It's supposed to be a rolling hills kind of route so I plan on using 70" gearing and clincher tires so I don't need to bring 2 sew-up spares.

Thanks for the reassurance!
I am tempted to use my sew-up wheels and 75" gearing but am afraid of running out of steam near the end.

I doubt my bike will be together by then, but if it is I might try and give it a shot.

I used my track bike once to do a century and I wasn't too comfortable due to the geometry. My road geometry fixies are so much more comfortable for long distance rides. :)

I saw someone on a FELT FG pushing what looked to be gear somewhere in the mid 70's at the ride start of the BBC century in Thurmount MD (an extremely hilly route; over 6,500' of elevation gain/loss) last weekend. Don't know if he did the whole ride as my riding buddy crashed badly at mile 15 so our ride ended there.

PPTC Century is tomorrow.

It will be in and around the VA/ WV eastern panhandle border area and is mostly gentle rolling hills.

Anyone else on this forum planning on doing the ride on their FG? I just got a new Madone but am planning on using my steel Waterford. Hope I don't regret it during the ride.

Should be a nice day!
