Schwinn Voyageur 11.8, looks to be in real primo condition.
Is it worth a $50 investment as a flip bike?

Yes and I am willing to go halfsies to help mitigate your investment risk!:p Also e-bay is your best bet for resale. Move quick, there is an on ramp to 309N right near my house.....
If you want it get it, I won't fight a fellow BF'er over a bike. There's just too many bikes for that kind of stuff. :)

I was only kidding about the trip North.:D That said, I do think it is good flip material. I have seen the black version of the Voyageur go on ebay for close too and sometimes over $200 depending. Good Luck!
I knew that. :p
I was just playin' back. :)

I live just off of 309... and could really use an 11.8!!!! especially if it is 56-57 cm :D
I'll let you flip it to me for a modest profit!
Heh, heh... I just got home with it. I haven't measured yet but depending on how you measure it just might be a 57. ;)
The bike is in beautiful shape considering... birthdate is 0730, so it's an '80, right? Needs a rear tube and the hoods are all cracked & wonky. Anyone have a line on a cheap pair of hoods? They're Dia-Compe drilled levers.
I'm anxious to get cracking on it tomorrow.

bbbbay... Dia-Compe hoods (http://search.ebay.com/Dia-Compe-hoods_W0QQfrppZ50QQfsopZ1QQmaxrecordsreturnedZ300QQsatitleZDiaQ2dCompeQ20hoods)
Congrats! That's a very good price. Careful, 11.8s can be addicting enough you'll want to keep it. :D

Somehow I missed this ad. Was it on Philly CL, or another PA subsection? I don't even know why I bother to watch Philly CL...just to end up seeing the deals appear in fender1's posts! ;)
If it's a 59 or 60cm c-c, you may have another interested buyer for local pick-up!
EDIT: Nevermind, looks like the '80 was only offered in 21", 23" and 25", no in-between.

It was in the Lehigh Valley subsection. Listed as "Schwinn ~ Excellent Condition" $50. there were three real fuzzy low-res photos. I had to inquire what it was.
Photos forthcoming. :)

I ran into the same sort of deal last night. Peugeot bike $125. Turns out to be 531 frame and forks in amazing condition, hehe. PICS!! We need pics!,,,,BD
I'm on my way out to the shop right now to make it presentable. Pics must wait till the sun is up. :)

Yeah, Schwinn measures c-t so the 23" is 57cm c-c and the 25" is 62cm c-c. You need a 24" in Schwinn vernacular. :)
BTW Oddly enough, both the 23" and 25" have 57cm c-c top tubes.

Stacey and I spent some time last night in PM trying to talk each other into this one...
I kept trying to convince myself it was too big for me...
I am glad it got into C&V hands!

Not to be argumentative, but on my tape 23" is about 58.4cm.

Ahhhhh.... those folks in the Lehigh Valley know how to treat a bike! If that bike were close to Philly, it would be a single speed/Fixed gear by now and have been powder coated flat black regardless of the paint condition!
gorgeous bike. . .
I'm guessing you're now thinking of keeping this one?
Marty
Thanks Marty. :)
Not really. It's still on my flip list. I have my sights set on a bigger fish. All this horse tradin' is for my new bike fund. I'm up about $230 cash and still have five bikes to set to market all on an initial $10 investment.
so tell us, what's this bigger fish you're talking about?

It's 23" center to top (c-t). McDave was pointing out that it's 57 cm center to center (c-c), which is the measurement many (including myself) refer to in deciding on seat tube length.
Ah, ok.... I unnestang now. :)

I haven't really decided exactly what yet. But I know how I'd like it.

Why c-c vs c-t?

Why c-c vs c-t?
Not sure exactly. But probably because the top of the seat tube varies depending on the make/model, some a little higher, some a little lower. c-c is a constant, so a better standard to use.

Bingo! And if you're buying bikes online get used to looking at the headtube length. That can often offer a better clue to actual size since people tend to measure the seattubes so many different ways. I ended up with a few undersize bikes before I figured that trick out.
Bike looks real good Stacy! If you had taken the photos when I told ya to, instead of jabbering on the net, they wouldn't have turned out harsh. :D :D :D
<------ Hangs head in shame. :(
Hahaha... they're not that bad. Man, that thing is original right down to the bar tape! Nice!

Thats the way you do it - for fun and profit! All my "keepers" were funded with flip money. If only I could do as well on picking stocks.......

As good as Stacey's photo's were, they do not do the bike justice. It is darn near perfect. All it needs is bar tape and gum Dia Compe hoods, which I already have. Stunning, just stunning.:D
