I plan to list this bike on eBay tomorrow evening, but I wanted to give the Bike Forums members a shot at it first. If you're jonesing for a 57cm celeste Bianchi made in Italy with a full Campagnolo Centaur group for training, group rides, crits, and anything else you can throw at it, continue reading...

I bought this from a reputable eBay seller (terrydavenporter) over Christmas of 2005. At that time, it was a stock 2005 Giro with Shimano 105 components and Mavic Cosmos wheelset. I parted off the components and wheelset, and I installed a full 2005 Campagnolo Centaur groupset and Mavic Open Pro wheelset I got a super deal on a few months before. This has been my workhorse since. I've treated it royally (as you will see in the photos), and it has been a pleasure to ride.

It is a beautiful celeste 57cm Giro. A very nice, vibrant rendition of the traditional Bianchi celeste! The bottom bracket shell was faced and tapped by my LBS shortly after purchase, a procedure worth doing for prolonging the life of the bottom bracket area of the bike. There are no dents or dings, and there are no chips in the paint to speak of. The only aesthetic flaws are some road grime under the clear plastic chainstay guard and some cable rub on the sides of the headtube. This is a pristine bike that was always stored indoors on a bike rack and routinely cleaned including the drivetrain. I remove my chain and cogs regularly to better clean them, so there's lots of life in the drivetrain too.

A final note: the saddle is the original saddle that came with the stock bike, but I never used it. It is like new. I installed my Aspide during the component switch when I first bought the bike.

I'd like to get $1000 or better for this bike. Paypal is preferred, but I would accept a USPS mail order too; note, the mail order must clear and show in my checking account before I ship the bike. I can ship FedEx Ground (highly preferred) or UPS Ground (seems to be more expensive these days). Anyhow, make an offer. Ask questions: I'm always near my inbox.

I should also note that I rode with a different set of tires (Conti Grand Prix) that I'm keeping. The Vittoria tires spent the last year and half in a closet. Doesn't look like they or the tubes are holding air. One of the tubes is new as of last night. Might want to invest in new tubes and tires just to be sure.

Great bike. I bought the same one last fall, but sporting the original black 105 drivetrain with virtually zero miles. I've changed a few things since and upgraded the wheels. I'll be curious to see what you get for it. Your's looks to be in mint condition. (What's the overall mileage?)

FWIW: I like the frame a lot...but I'd be very surprized if it was actually made in Italy. Maybe final assembly was though, and certainly the Celeste and Campy give it a bit more Italian cred.

Oh...and I'm very impressed with the detail of your description. All the way down to the tubes, rim strips, and spacer height!

Thanks. Just over 4000 miles. All in good weather or on the trainer if it rained. Raced one crit in the Spring of '06 (18th unattached in a 60 rider field!). I usually ride solo, steer clear of debris, and ride routes with good pavement and little traffic. I just like the look and feel of a clean bike though I'm on the lookout for a rain/beater bike.

It's my understanding that '05 Giros were Reparto Corse SL3 framesets, and I think those were made in Italy. Either way, there's not much difference between Italian and Asian manufacturers these days.

Also, I figured out why the tires weren't holding air. I took the rim tape off the Open Pros and put them on a different wheelset. You guessed it: no rim tape on these wheels at the moment. So, the tires are probably fine, but the tubes are likely scuffed. Don't have any spare rim tape at the moment, but I'll include a spare tube or two.

well, looks like you might be right:

That's cool. I kind of figured that my frame was made in Asia. Good luck with your sale.
