I don't know as this is really the right forum for this, but it seems like a lot of people here ride EBs...

A couple months ago I bought a pair of Egg Beater Cs. Loved them, except they developed some bearing play rather quickly, so I returned them and decided to upgrade to SLs. Got them today. First impression is that they seem a little softer than the Cs did. It's nice sometimes (I always had a little trouble clipping in on the right side while dismounted), but the float feels much looser and I just don't feel quite as securely connected (though I tried a good hard, out of the saddle hill sprint with no ill effects). I don't know that I really have a problem here, I was just wondering if others might have made similar observations. Last thing I want is to overlook another potential problem...

I believe the difference in feel is due to the fact that the wings on the SL's are more rounded, giving a smoother click-out feel. The C's are a less expensive stamped-steel and since the technique is very much like a cookie-cutter the resulting edges are more squared-off.

I have C's and SL's so I know what you're talking about. Your cleats are also worn slightly-- EB cleats are very soft compared to the harder SPD type cleats.
