Fifty Plus (50+) - Another milestone

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Well, I crossed the 5,000 mile marker today on a 28 miler. Not too shabby for a guy who first picked up a bike as a 50+er just over two years ago! And I'm just this side of 1,000 miles on Ruby Roubaix as well. :)

And to think, all of those miles in California....
I'll cross 2K for this year next week. And wasted all of them on Missouri back roads...

You are doing well. I'll never be able to say the same thing.
And in this corner:fight:
Thanks, guys, for livening up the forum!
But, errrrrrrrrr, why would you want to ride in Ca., or Mo., when you could come down to Tx. and experience riding nirvana????????? Looks kinda like western Marin County around here.........but we got trees, and the trees aren't bent over. Oh............the Cabernet is great from the local vineyards. And talk about the real estate prices..............well, that's not even an issue:rolleyes:
Like mountains and cool weather???????? Ft. Davis.
Like flat riding????????????? The coast and most parts of West Texas.
Ohhhhhhhhh, and only Ca. here, like a reasonable cost of living w/no state income tax????????:D
Should I go on????????
And damn it!! Yes, GW is from here., but so was LBJ.:p

You left out humidity, smog, fire ants, and chiggers. :D
Seriously, having grown up on the flat treeless prairies north of Dallas, and now living in northern California where I ride in places like that shown below, I can assure you that Texas is a good place to be from!

5,000 miles and only 4,758 posts. Your ratio is getting better. It used to be over 1 post per mile!:D Maintaining your current post/mile ratio, if you post more, your mileage will go even higher.
Congratulations, BTW.

Many people who have been cycling for years don't get that type of mileage.

Good job, DG. It won't be long before you'll hit the 10,000 km mark.

A rough tally reveals that, since last April, I have done well over 2000 miles.
I have to think that by next Arpil -my 2 year mark- I will not have hit 5K.
Then my miles include hills (and quite, quite a few hours on a trainer come wintertime) ;p
But, congrats are in order... 5K is 5K, after all.
Now, get out there and start doing some real road riding.

This is getting just too spooky.
Just got back from 27.7 mile ride. (you were 28). Since you brought it up I checked my total mileages since my return to biking, June 2004, and I turned over 5005 today!!! We weigh pretty much the same. Both good looking. You ride a white Roubaix. My Bertolette is built on a black Roubaix frame. DG backwards is...well close to GB, my initials. It's almost like de ja vue all over again.

You and DG must never be allowed to meet. It would be the end of the universe!

But Captain...it is not logical. They must join so that order will be preserved in the universe. The needs of the many out weight the needs of the two.:D

Wonderful! Congratulations on your achievement.
I'm happy I've finally met another person who started riding seriously as an adult beginner. I'm hitting 2000 miles for the year this weekend. You've given me another goal to shoot for.
