I'm thinking about picking up a Specialized Crosstrail Expert. Everyone I called in my area tells me they don't have this bike in stock, can't get any more 2007 bikes, and can't get the 2008 bike until December. The 2008 Crosstrail Expert supposedly is going to MSRP at $940 where the 2007 is $770, for what sounds like the same specs.

I've called everyone listed as a dealer within 150 miles on the Specialized locater. I'm hoping someone who knows the bike business might have some advice for me.

Sounds like you're out of luck with the '07 but you could try calling Specialized directly if you need extra confirmation.

You're probably right. I just hope the dealer was fibbing about the 08 pricing.

07 Rockhopper Disc: $660, 08 Rockhopper Disc: $700.

Specialized must have just posted the '08 Crosstrail. Dangit, the dealer was being straight with me. $940 for the '08, and they replaced black with silver. I really don't get the crazy price jump. Meh.

dude - it's specialized......be aware, i've always been suspect of their pricing on 'new' bikes; which of course will be 'old' in just a year, and therefore usually cheaper.
