Texas - Events around Dallas 9/19-10/07 ?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I'll be in Dallas those dates - with my bike - and need to get some miles in. Century is okay. Some evening rides. I can keep up a fair pace.
Autumn in Bohnam (http://www.bonhamchamber.com/aib/autumn.htm) is a really good rally in the area at that time.
You can check out any of the PBA (http://www.planobicycle.org/pba/) rides while your in town.
I'll probably do Bonham. Which is better, the 65 or 54 mile course?
I'm a little surprised at the paucity of weekday rides. Here in Atlanta there are at least a half dozen rides any day of the week (except Friday, for some reason ;) ). I'll try to get up to Plano at least once.
Too bad I won't be around for Tour dey Fire Ant. Love to have a t-shirt from that one!
There's probably at least 2-3, often more, rides somewhere in the Dallas area each day of the week except friday. The web presence of the rides is limited though.

I'd do the 65. I'm not sure if the 54 route includes the Leonard Leviathans (small rollers we call hills here).

The PBA is a Plano club...a suburb of Dallas. There is also the GDB (Greater Dallas Bicyclists) that have their rides, there are clubs in Arlington, FortWorth, Frisco etc. I would say we probably have the same amount of rides in the area if you count up all the clubs. I don't belong to any of the other clubs so I can't speak for their rides.
Just on this side of the metro, we cyclists are such a pain in the ass that a couple of local redneck-villes are trying to figure out how to ban the hundreds of cyclists that roll their streets several days a week.
DMF, definitely do the 65mi route. And PBA is a great club to ride with that many of the north Dallas BF members are a part of (including me). I might be going in for surgery next week, but if that gets postponed a bit I'll be at Bonham and any other PBA ride I can get my self out to.
The 54 mi route include the Leonard hills.
I know the area well. I lived there 20 years. Or should I say, I knew the area well. Went down to midtown last trip and totally didn't recognize the place.
Found the GDB calendar. The REI ride sounds like fun.

The tuesday one? If it's still doing the 'south' route, it's not the best route. It's very stop and go. There is usually a rogue group that does the west route that is pretty good.

The map suggests otherwise?
Are we looking at the same map (http://www.bonhamchamber.com/images/'07%20AIB%20Route%20maps.pdf)?
The 64 mi (long) route doesn't go south of Hwy 56 at all.
Nope :)
I was thinking you were talking about the cottonpatch ride for some reason.
I think I confused the issue. The Leonard Hills are part of Cottonpatch right? Not Bonham. I've ridden the hills solo but don't know which rally goes over them.
I think the cottonpatch rally 63 mi route goes over the hills, but not the shorter routes. I say this because the map has a little set of hill looking things drawn on it :)
No clue about the other rally.
Yes, the Bonham 54 mi ride includes the Leonard Hills.
Now, knowing that, would you recommend the 64 mi route, or the 54 mi route?
Cottonpatch sounds like a good ride, but that's this coming weekend. I'll be doing the Wilson 100 (http://www.bikesbl.org/modules.php?op=modload&name=Wilson100&file=index) south of Atlanta that weekend.

For clarification, Bonham has the Leonard hills on the 54 and 64 route. Cottonpatch 63mi route includes these as well

Nope. Check the map. (http://www.bonhamchamber.com/images/'07%20AIB%20Route%20maps.pdf)
Has anyone here done the 64 mi. route?
Forget which route I rode last year, but any of the Bonham routes should make for a nice ride. I rode the Leonard hills today and for those of us not used to any real hills they really are a challenge. They come later in the ride on the Bonham routes than in the Cotton Patch Classic.
