Riding the Wasp today at the usual warp 5 speed, I headed into town...you know..racing the traffic, decided to take some back streets, slowed down to yump a small bump in the road then :eek::eek::eek:
the head stem slips to the bottom of the inverted seat post thingy I'm using......not a nice position to find oneself in, I assure you. I grabbed the right brake lever with my R/hand and the post with my L/hand and somehow very gingerly slow to a holt, unclipping safely... luckily no cars to squash me... I thought I was a goner. Whose idea was that to user the seatpost thingy, Jur..was it you?
I've got a thicker shim in now.....but it lingers in my mind........

Yes, my idea... did you check for proper diameters, sizes, tightness etc...?

* wags finger *

Glad that you managed to control the situation Steve.

Jur,
I was near a LBS so we found a thicker shim which is very tight. I might take a visit to the frame maker I know and get him to make up some posts with a long 22.2 insert with quill set up and have the other end widened to accept the head stem.
At the time I just coped with it all OK, but now later I'm thinkin', "What if it happened at speed?" It sends a shudder up my spine....my t12 says "Not again".
