I have all my data from the Garmin Edge 305 stored on my pc. I would like to request help from someone to upload it to Motion Based or some other site so I can get input for better training. I also know that I should be getting more out of the screens on the unit.

Please send me a PM with your phone number so I can call for help.

Thanks, Jerry

How is it stored on your PC? TrainingCenter or what? What happens when you try to upload to Motion Based?

I stored it using the Training Center software. I registered for the free account on Motion Based. Will I still be able to upload my information? Also does the name in the Training Center have to match the account name on Motion Based?

Thanks

I believe that MB takes the info from your Garmin unit...not the Training Center. They do not have to be the same account name....

The motion based agent will take your workouts from the unit and upload it.

Everybody uses different screens...what is important to me might not be to you....BUT

I use on screen one: Speed:HR:Cadence:HR Zone

Screen two: Avg Speed:Time of Day:Distance:Calories

I think that is it.....not sure because it is not in front of me...

OK, I will download straight to MB site instead of TC. The month of data that I have in the TC, there's got to be a way to get that into MB. I sure would like to see how I have progressed.

Thanks,

Unless you've deleated the info from the edge, you should still be able to upload it to MB, altho at some point the Edge deletes some of the older info. I believe there is also a way to export from TC & then import to MB, but I'm not sure exactly how offhand. If you make sure you export in the correct file format, that should work as well.

Be aware that you can look at detail only for your 10 most recent activities if you had the free account on MB. Paying for an account gets you access to all your activites.

The Edge holds all detail for activiities as long as it has space. When the space is filled it starts dropping the oldest activities.

I believe that you can import from Training Center to Motion Based. Try searching forums.motionbased.com

A new version of MB is coming out shortly. I think Edge compatability is slated for Jan. There will still be free & subscription versions, altho it seems like more features are given on the free version than at present. Don't know if the 10 most recent activities limitation will still apply.

I haven't had to do it, but I think you can, in Training Center, do File -> Export History. Then, in motion based, click on 'Upload'. On the right, there is 'Manual Upload'. Browse to find your export file (.tcx, I think). Then hit submit. You only need to do this if you have data in training center that is no longer on your edge.

that won't work, because the file will be too big, because it includes your entire history of all of your rides stored in Training Center. i tried doing it using the MB Agent too, and that didn't work either, for the same reason. the only way i know is if you zip a copy of your history file to MB customer support, and see if they can upload it for you, i haven't been able to figure out a way to upload just one ride to MB from Training Center using the MB Agent. you can re-upload your history (that you deleted) to the Garmin using the MB Agent, but the rides don't appear in history, they only appear as maps in the training section under courses...

Hmm, if the size is the issue, what about export everything, then delete everything from training center that you don't need to upload to motion based (or just keep enough to make it small enough), then export that and upload. When you're all done, you can import your original export file that contains everything to get it back into training center. I haven't done this either, so don't know if it would work.
