I'm trying to understand all this and it's messing with my head.

I've heard that for a variety of reasons a steeper Seat Tube Angle is better for Triathlons. What has me concerned, if I understand correctly, is that this essentially moves you forward relative to the bottom bracket and the pedals.

Wouldn't this also tend to move your knees forward of the pedal spindles violating the KOPS rule (knee over pedal spindle) and potentially causing knee pain?

Thanks to anyone who can clear this up.

I don't think KOPS applies to tri's and further, some feel that it was overemphasized in teh first place.

The reason you want to be forward is that if you are not, you will be "bound up" in the upper legs and hips. My tri bike is a converted road bike with let's say very relaxed geometry. It is a bit of a pain to stay in the aero bars for more than ten minutes at a time.

Go to Slowtwitch dot com and read there entire series on FIST fitting. One of the points they make is throw KOPS out the window.
