Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - ATTN: Fuji Track '06 owners

If you have a Fuji track from 2006, maybe you can help me. What stock wheelset did you get with your bike? As I posted in another thread, I'm swapping my rear for a Surly/OpenPro wheel, and I want to sell off the old one. I thought the hub was a Formula, as that's what the shop told me and that's what I've read online. There are no labels to say it's a Formula, but the Fuji website says it's a Fuji track hub, which I assumed was just a rebadged (or de-badged, rather) Formula hub.

I'm looking at the wheel today after I took it off the bike, and the fixed side bearing cap says "Quando" on it. The rims are Alexrim RPD15. Is this right? I get a really shady vibe from my LBS... have I been had?

I don't think so. I can check when I get back home for you. I changed that wheel set out a while ago.

That would be great; thanks! I'm still going to take mine to the LBS and ask them what's up. I found an archived thread that said a low-flange quando hub with an alexrim was stock on the 2003 bikes.

I have also noticed that my bearings feel like cottage cheese after only about 100 miles, which makes me very concerned.

Post a picture of the hub, and people here can tell you if it's Formula or not.

The RPD15's were first spec-ed on the 2007s
prior to that the rims were "DRX 2000 Double Wall Road Rims, Black w/CNC sidewalls, 32H"
in 2004 and earlier the hubs were "Fuji alloy"

It's definitely the blue 2006 frame, rpm crank, chinhaur headset, fugly fuji quill stem... everything mathces up except for the weird wheels.

You're right. That rear wheel looks rather odd...

parts get substituted at the factory all the time when supply dries up.
if your wheels indeed don't match the spec then it's more likely that the swap happened there instead of at the LBS.


That said, that doesn't look like a LF formula hub.
The threaded portion of black formula hubs is also anodized black. not silver.
and the dustcaps are wrong.
unless its some weird OEM hub.

So is there anything I can do? Everything I've read says that Quandos are garbage, and that's the experience I'm having. The real problem here is that I think I'm going to have trouble selling off a wheel with a junk hub when I thought I was going to selling a Formula.

ride it till it dies
then replace the wheel

or, find yourself a cluless buyer. There are quite a few of those around.
