Mountain Biking - Kent Bikes?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Hey guys, I mostly frequent the SS/FG forums, but I found a Kent Mountain Bike for $20 and bought it... It's called a Rock Blaster, any ideas if these are decent bikes or not? It's got front suspension, thats it, all Shimano components, V-brakes and so on. Anyways, do they suck is basically what im asking. Thanks guys.

F.T.W, if you know how to tune bikes, give it a tune-up, true the rims, put a $25 or $30 price on it and post it on craigslist. It will sell and you'll get your money back.

Ride it and see if you feel like you got your money's worth.

or you can give it a tune-up, true the rims, and ride it. Use it for screwing around or something. Its only $20

Good point. I've purchased several old bikes in the $20 range at garage sales. I've had a blast fixing them, riding them, sold a few, kept a few. Hey, $20 won't buy a full tank of gas, but it will still buy a used bike.
Yeah. $20 isn't no big deal. I may do just that, a little here and there and play around with it. This is my first mountain bike, so far, I like the concept.

Helz, put $50 on it. Someone will buy it. I got $125 for a Royce Union earlier this summer. :)
Maybe you should change your name to F.T.L.
What would that accomplish, my name doesn't stand for "for the win"
you should get some letter decals and put "clark" in front of the "kent". then you will indeed have a great classic mtb. it will be much lighter, will never rust, and will outlive ya. congrats

F.T.W, please be real careful about taking that X-mart bike on a mountain trail. The warnings others post on this forum about department store bikes should be taken seriously. I've never tried a department store bike on a trail, but my freinds have with bad results. One could not complete the ride due to an improperly tensioned wheel that bent. Better you should pick up an old rigid fork, LBS bike like an old Trek, Nishiki or DiamondBack. I rode a few of those with no problems. They were built for the trail.

Yea my friend to a walmart bike on the trail. It was just a simple 5 mile single track. Lost a pedal, wheels out of true, broke 3rd chainring and 1st chainring. Finally, a collasped fork. That bike was jacked up.
