Well, I do have my Centurion Cinelli up for trade...and that is my size...is it a '75?
Would that be a fair trade?
Do you guarantee he won't hunt us down, or will you keep the transaction anonymous? ;)

Kurt,
I don't think it's painted. A certain someone, whose name shall not be spoken, expected it to be painted in exchange for promised graphic work (the kind that are applied to the painted surfaces of bike frames in order to identify them). Well, when the one whose name shall not be spoken, demanded the frame back
the Doctor held it hostage. After all, Dr.D had custom painted a Super Sport, including fenders, for the one whose name shall not be spoken, in exchange for the graphics work (which was never delivered). All told, it was easily a $800-1000 job. Then the one whose name shall not be spoken turned around and sold the SS for under $300.
My guess is that the Sports Tourer frameset is an unpleasent reminder of the one whose name shall not be spoken. Instead of the good Doctor working through his angst by beating out his frustrations with a hammer on CroMolly, he's doing his best to find an adopting new owner for this poor victum of the one whose name shall not be spoken.

Q. WTF is so great about that particular model Schwinn?
A. It has a low first gear, and a joy to ride. It is my favorite of the 45 bikes I have.

KEEP TRACK OF THE NUMBER OF BIKES YOU ARE BUYING! I did not try to get 45.
The new Sports Tourer decals are in process.

Pardon me good Dr. D., just a reminder.
Monterey Bay is part of the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary and is therefore protected from deposits of vintage bicycle frames, including Schwinn. ;)
Avoid arrest and fines, send it to bigbossman. :)

It'll be "deposited" for research purposes only! ;)
OR...Bossman will show up at my door and take it away.

And I think the concensus on the Schwinn Forum was that the stays were 1020 carbon steel (the Schwinn specs were a bit confusing on the point in early publications).

an it musta been the wrong time...I hit garage sales got an ols skip tooth with a new departure ,a monarch thunderbird,an Italian boom bike etc. but I love the yellow color on that sports tourer.I am sure it is gone I will post pics of the Italian sometime. It has a cheap sticker headbadge but it worked and after digging through piles of forlorn relics,I got it for 5.00 US. in NW wisconsin where life is beautiful all the time.
