"The 33"-Road Bike Racing - Pictures that prove I'm faster than Pcad + bonus

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

First, TT position pictures to spite Pcad and make himself stop posting pictures of himself

First, with the Rocket Helmet:

http://www.chriscollins.org/pictures/garneau.JPG

Then, testing the Spiuk Helmet:

http://www.chriscollins.org/pictures/kronos.JPG

Test results coming soon.... Then, for comparison, the old(er) position:

http://www.chriscollins.org/tt_pics/DSC00513.JPG

Dropped 25s off of my PR on an 8 mile TT by changing the position. That includes a loss of power of ~20W, so when I get that back, watch out... It's considerably lower.

Now, for the bonus. I was gonna wait until January to pull the trigger on this, but I found this one on a ridiculous closeout.... Without further ado, meet Storm, version X. Version 1 coming after Saturday's ride -- I'm gonna move the SRM and the SRAM stuff over to it, then it'll be (sadly) time to part with my Tarmac, and the whole Ultegra group that came on the CR1.

I can't wait to ride it (hello, understatement).

My computer needs a cigarette after taking in those monster pics. Whew:eek:

So your position is more forward now?

Oh, nice CR1 by the way.:)

But everybody is faster than me. This is like proving you're smarter than Homer Simpson.

Oh, I know. I just had to give you crap for posting so many pictures of yourself.

The stable is slightly impressive, but less so if you keep in mind that the Tarmac is about to not be a part of it. Plus, the Scale build kit I got EP'ed, and I got the frame & wheelset below dealer cost (looong story). The CR1 I just got @ cost on closeout... The P2SL is a mishmash, but of equally good deals.

Is your taint unhappy with the new position?

Pretty sweep stable of bikes though esply the scott mtb.. (drools)

IS your taint unhappy with the new position?

It couldn't care less. Arms need a bit of work... They start to hurt after ~20 mins in the position, but I can still hold it for an hour or so. Not the most fun thing to do, but hey... And I don't think I'll be in any TT's over an hour, so I'm not that worried about.

http://www.chriscollins.org/gallery2/main.php?g2_itemId=26 for more Scale fun hehe. It's only 2 weeks old. Of course, the first race it went to got poured on, so it came back all muddy.

I'm going to stop plugging my new toys and go work on HW now...

Sorry, I got excited :). I wasn't planning on getting that anytime soon, but awesome deals are hard to pass on...

Do you prefer the CR1 more then the Tarmac? I assume the CR1 is a lighter frame, but from what I have heard is the CR1 rides a little more harsh. I Love the ride of my 05 S-works Tarmac

Um, looks like you are about half his age, too. Let's see how fast you are in another 25 years.

From test rides so far, yes. I kind of want a harsher frame, odd as that sounds... I'm a weird one like that, though. I swapped my carbon bars back for aluminum bars because I liked the feel better *shrug*.

The rocket helmet looks like it fits your back much better in the new position. What did you change? It looks like a shorter stem and maybe 74 deg?

UT_Dude
09-13-07, 09:04 PM
Stem's actually 10mm longer, but it's a 125 degree stem flipped down vs a 8 degree stem flipped down.

Why don't you move that seat forward, so you don't have to ride on the "rivets".
It's not like you have to follow UCI rules.

'Cuz riding on the nose feels happier than not.

I feel strangely RyanF-esque after having posted this thread... Sorry, I was excited about my new toy :(.

That position looks great. It really moved you forward though. I wonder if you might feel a little better in the arms if you pushed your aero bars out a bit to get your upper arm angle closer to what it used to be. Then again, you'll probably develop the arm strength to compensate in a couple weeks anyway.

Congrats on the new ride!

The implication that these pillars of American society may be mythical is rather disturbing. Leave Europe before they suck all the US of A out of your entire being botto.

WTF...a Canadian/Mexican helmet and Canadian/Chinese bike and you live in Texas?

How are you still alive??

When I get to work, if you insist.

I don't care where the stuff comes from, but I do care if it works better. That said, if it's a choice between two similarly priced items with identical performance, I'll pick the one from the USA.

Austin != "in Texas" (for all values of Austin)

Around here, you're more likely to get run over by a Saab or Volvo than anywhere else in the state.

Why the scale under your front tire?

To make it level...

How do you flip the seat?

SRM shots for whomever wanted them:

First one is the 'new' position. 266W over 18:28.7.

Second one is the 'old' position. 278W over 18:44.4.

This piece is reversible.

http://www.bikesportmichigan.com/reviews/pk2/thumbs/seats.jpg

1. Loosen the nut on the back,
2. Rotate this seatpost clamp 180 degrees
3. Loosen both rail clamp bolts to very loose
4. remove the seat
5. put the seat back in in the opposite direction
6. tighten it all up
7. enjoy!

Ah, yeah, I'm happy with the saddle in it's current position (for now...).

Great Ceasar's Ghost UT Dude! I just noticed your seatpost is UN-flipped. For shame. What tangled webs we weenies weave (say that three times fast).

On the Pcad TT Missle the seatpost is flipped, the stem is flipped, and I'm so far friggin forward I feel like an F18 waiting for the in-flight refueling KC-135 to arrive.

http://www.dfrc.nasa.gov/Gallery/Photo/F-18HARV/Small/EC95-43335-7.jpg

But alas, it never does. Actually, I'm thinking this foward shift MAY make me a bit faster on Sunday. We'll see how the motor's running that day.

I just saw the start times for Silvermine, and the four fastest guys go off at 30 second intervals: Roger Aspholm, Dr.W, Kenny Lundgren, and Mike Gisler. That's like TT Perfect Storm. If they all catch each other on the course will the universe implode? Wouldn't that be more wattage in one place than a nuclear power plant meltdown?

On the Rivet UT. On the Rivet.

By the way, it's easier for me, I don't need no photos to prove I'm slower than UT dude. My USCF results speak for themselves.
