I'd say WJ with an FTP of 340-350.

My new teammate. But I don't think he's on BF, so I vote for Racer Ex.

My on road 1 hour record is 34 km on a road bike. If you can beat that then I bow to you.

I too vote for racer x tied with KP and Pizza FTW for an uphill TT.

The last time I did a sanctioned 40km TT was YEARS ago (and I mean years). I did 54:20. Slightly above sea level, pancake flat, early morning, no wind.

No idea what I'd turn now.

Methinks you have set the bar a little low. There are a number of riders here that can do 40km in under an hour, which is the default cut-off between Lance-wannabes and Lance-wannabe-wannabes.

Maybe I should tack on a few more wannabes...

I think we'd have to give a bit of a nod to NomadVW too, with an FTP of 355? It sounds

Congrats KP. You have filled the void that DrP and Cypress's absence had created in our little ryans heart.
Good job.

Not fast enough.

Too true, although I recently surpassed KP in USA Cycling rankings in the ITT for what that is worth. :)

If you do a 40k in 52 and change, then you are probably on par with KP or RacerEx.

And also, I am thinking that once Nomad comes stateside and gets a TT bike, Sonic booms will regularly be heard at TTs on the east coast.

That's pretty nuts. I guess TX isn't catching up as fast as I thought (to the nation's hot spots). In the state TT champs, we only had three riders under 53 minutes, with 52:08 winning it (pretty flat 40k).

Gulp. My last 20k was 29:34, and I think the course was a hair short. I need to bump up my wattage.

When I read posts about guys who average 25mph+ for 10 miles whining that they're too slow, I realize that I'm in over my head. I need a longer snorkel for this place. I suck so friggin hard @ this sport that the only thing that keeps me going is my 13 year old daughter trying to run HS Cross Country, my love for pricey roadie schwag and my desire to distance myself in some way from terminal Fredosity. And of course if I didn't have these stupid BF threads as a past-time what the hell would I do with my spare time?

I dunno if this means anything, but the only clue I have to my "ability" is that the Kreuzotter calculator says I put out 440w for 16 mins on a 4.2% climb. I hope it's accurate. :) At the time I was 90kg, so I plugged in all the numbers.

http://www.kreuzotter.de/english/espeed.htm

Also, I'm a TOTALLY the world's worst sprinter, so maybe I've got 97% slow twitch fibres

Feel free to tell me I'm a tosser or a dreamer :D

As far as real time-trialing goes, I doubt I'd be any good (I've never used aero bars), because I'm a bit over weight (189lb, 6ft) and I have some sacroiliac problems, so I can't ride in an aero position for very long. I've also noticed that my power drops right off after about 30/35 mins

About 15 years ago I did 29:30 for a 20km TT on my old 531 Raleigh, without any aero gear, and after not too much specific training. HOORAH FOR ME! :D Not only did I not have aero bars, but I didn't even ride in the drops, :) and I had my old 32-spoke CD4s

My left sacroiliac joint has been killing me since 1999. F my s.i. joint. I ride. Oddly, it doesn't often bother me when I ride. Sometimes however, it kills me. I never really know. I'm so used to it hurting I generally ignore it. Usually I'm OK with it on the bike, even in a TT position.

This probably sounds like standard, two-bit advice, but I think glucosamine has done a lot to help, as has walking the dog more

As far as stretching goes, I think glute and hip flexor stretching has done 'something' to help

Ab work (crunches) seems to make mine worse

I get the benefit of thin air up here, that and getting to watch RacerEx ride away from me on every hill, sprint and really anything. Higher altitude makes for faster times as evident by my lack of power and good average from our local TT championship last week.
30:09
14 miles
27.85 average
310 norm power
Also check out the http://www.recordchallenge.com in New Mexico. Its 6300ft and they set tons of national records there(41)

Yeah, there used to be record challenge TT in Alamosa CO at 7400 feet. It was a 40k loop that was pancake flat, at ridiculous altitude. Sweet. Too bad I can't TT.
