Recumbent - Greenspeed Scorchers 349mm (again)

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Hi Everyone,
I picked up a pair of Greenspeed Scorchers and had 10 flats in the first 150 miles, most on tiny shards of glass. I couldn't handle it anymore and ditched them. Anyone else have a similar experience?

Afraid so. I figured that I was getting a flat on average every 30 miles on my trike with the Scorchers. Trying Kojacs now. They don't look much more durable but I do like to go fast so I'm giving them a try.

Maybe I'm a lucky one but I have over 1000 miles flat free on mine, 349 front tire vision r-40.

Why are you riding over so much glass?
I have only had one flat in 890 miles on my GT3 with the scorchers.
I picked up a very small thorn while riding back in the rain.
I do try to avoid all road hazards if possible.

Sorry for the late reply. The answer is simple: New York City. My commute to work takes me through Harlem and Washington Heights, where lots of folks like to party and smash bottles on the bike path. I counted 5 smashed bottles on my way out of the city this weekend. The glass gets picked up by other commuters and spread all over the place. I switched to Brompton greens and love them so far. (Knock on wood.)
The Scorchers did seem scorching, but I don't have a power meter, so I'll never know. I do know that they significantly increased my journey time to work with all of those flats!
How are the Kojacks?
