Foo - wow. I just discovered the most annoying type of grapes

concord grapes. Do you guys swallow the tiny seeds? They're impossible to eat without actually swallowing the seeds.

I'm with wolfpack. Eat 'em.
I also eat the watermelon seeds.
These things too, will pass.

I hate the after taste. And they expire very very fast. Thank goodness the season is short.
Just discovered that there are seeded grapes?
Youngsters, sheesh. Why back in the old days it was sometimes hard to find seedless grapes, particularly if you wanted them in any color other than green. :p

he he. I basically grew up eating seedless grapes. I can't believe grapes have seeds..it's like riding with down tube shifters these days. :)
These concord grapes are weird though. The skin is very easy to peel but the seeds stay with the gut and you have to make a conscious effort with your tongue to pry them out.

stop trying to pry the seeds out. just put as many as you can in your mouth and swallow. chew the hulls, spit out, repeat. serious.

I like seeded grapes, too! I eat the seeds and all. The seeds are actually very nutritious (http://www.nutricraze.com/Grape-Seed-n-88.html). :)
These grapes (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oXzriJ2LDpI) are much more annoying.

champaigne(sp) grapes anger me, they are really good, but they are the size of a grain of dust!

I love this time of year- concord grapes are just part of that (so are pomegranates, but that's another thread...) Anyway, I eat 'em one at a time- hold one between your thumb and index finger, with the part that's open (where it came off the stem) aimed toward your mouth. open up and squeeze that bugger right in, and then suck the juice out of the now-collapsed skin. Then, swallow the now-naked grape right on down. Don't worry about the seeds- it's roughage and fiber, but if you want to get maximum benefits from the seeds you have to crush them between your teeth.
Champagne grapes are awesome too. So are fresh currants. I could go on and on- is there a fruit that isn't awesome? (Ok, maybe a durian.... :().

No chance. I despise seeded fruits. to much work to make them worthwhile.

Very good explaination of how to get to the best part of the grape MTBLover. I wish I had some Concord grapes around here.

I eat them that way, as well. Just be careful about the seeds. I have a friend who chipped a tooth pretty badly chewing on those.

OK- I don't know about the rest of you foodies, but I just had a grape epiphany. The local farm market had baskets of Niagara grapes- they look a lot like white concords, which is what I thought they were. The farmer said "Nope, they are Niagaras- try one." Holey moley, I'm in love. They are so ridiculously awesome- you eat 'em just like a concord, but they have a more tropical-like flavor. If you can get 'em, I recommend 'em very, very highly indeed. You won't be disappointed!
There's a grape that grows in little features of some of the sandstone slot canyons around here that are delicious. Don't know what they're called though.
Seeds = Good

I got some grapes at the farmers' market that are akin to Concords. Lots of seeds. They were yummy and now they're gone. :D

This thread, and in particular Shadiyah's post inspired me to force myself to down a bag of seeded grapes. Turns out after a while I started liking them. And if they're that much more healthy looks like that's the kind I'm gonna look for. The Amish sell them in royal oak all the time.

Plus they're far tastier, IMO. So much of the tart and bitter has been bred out of our fruits. All that's left is the sweet, which is rather boring and insipid all alone.

Yea, Verily. Concords are for jelly and wine maybe. And I work at a winery. Stick with grapes meant for eating. Seeded eating type grapes tend to be very large, making it worthwhile to separate the seed in your mouth for spitting out. We are harvesting just now and I go through a double handfull of Pinot Chardonney and Sauvignon Blanc grapes each day using my teeth as a screen.
