"The 33"-Road Bike Racing - The Rain in Spain Fell Mainly On...

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
The riders. The amount of rain that fell on the Vuelta today would cancel baseball games, hammer public transportation and could probably snuff out the sun. That was the first time I was actually glad that I couldn't make it as a pro bike rider. Ever had that feeling before?
i think i'll go over to foo and apologize profusely to blue jay.

Mt. Hamilton RR (NCal) back in the 90s. 18 mile climb w long descent and rollers to the finish. It was raining at the bottom and snowing at the top. Couldn't feel my arms or legs and couldn't squeeze the brakes. I was doing my best Fred Flinstone impression, putting my foot down to stop on the twisty descent.
I ended up by the side of the road delirious begging someone, anyone, to give me a ride to the finish line. I remember getting back home and draining the hot water heater in a one hour shower. I thing I regained full feeling in my extremeties about a week later.
this is the kind of **** pros endure every week during the race year. crazy!!

Yeah, I went for a ride in Denver one day, in April. It was 55 when I left, wearing arm warmers. I got 40 miles out and it started to smell like snow as I turned around. We got hit with a crazy snowstorm. By the time I got home I had 1/2" of ice caked on my shoes from the front wheel going through the slush. It was actually pretty fun, but it took a while to get the tootsies functional again. I was glad once the ice started sticking, because it killed the wind.

incorrect. i am botto's phantom twin that was absorbed in utero. finally, proof that botto's been doping.

Hey, I did that one! I remember getting blown sideways on one of the hairpins after the summit. Those "rollers" on the other side are like 2000' climbs I made it in after flatting on a cattle guard. Moral: when you bunny hop something, make sure you clear it with BOTH wheels.
I've ridden Mt Ham a lot since then and it's never been that miserable again. I'd rather have 107 degree heat.

nope.
it seems that someone, and i have an idea whom, has cracked bf's code.
note that there's one online botto, and one non-online botto.
I was wondering what was going on. In another thread I saw some of your posts with your avatar and some without and I couldn't figure out how you were doing that.

Yeah, I think they do, given that the doppleganger is banned.
Sorry, didn't have time to get the avatar right.
Hint: read up on unicode.

Ha! Agreed I'd take the heat any day! If someone had given me a revolver at the summit I might have pulled the trigger!

You underestimate the emptiness of BF Members' lives at your own peril.
