I talk to a LBS that claims that they can get a Shimano internal 3spd hub with a freewheel. Now I've never heard of that and the only 3sp Shimano hub I can find online comes with a coaster brake. Now has anyone heard of this?
I have one sitting in a parts bin at home.
So is it a discontinued hub? I don't see it anywhere online, not even on the Shimano website.

It's possbile the only hub they offer is the auto 3 speed hub available in Trek's Lime. I guess you may have to buy Srams. Oppps! That's also a coaster brake.
There's nothing wrong with a 3 speed coaster brake. My Dahon Presto has a coaster brake and it's not bad at all. It helps preserve the front brake and it stops very well.

No it's not that, I asked him if he was completely sure it was a freewheel and he said yes. Besides, jur just said he has one.
I don't like coaster brakes. It's nice to peddle backwards sometimes, kind of stretches the legs out.

I also have a old shimano 333 3 speed internal gear hub with freewheel in my spare parts.

Oh God... I sure hope not. Those things are life from the 60's right?
I heard that those 333 hubs work like crap.
Does anyone know if the coaster brake in these hubs cab be disabled?
Well guys, just came back from the LBS and it's true. The owner showed me like7 bikes that had a Shimano Nexus 3-spd hubs with either a roller brake or free wheel. He said that they also make a version that works with disk brakes. I am getting the one with rollar brakes installed for $175 total.
